THE Bracknell Town & District Sunday League was back in force on the weekend with the opening fixtures in the 2016/17 season, writes Nick Carpenter.

In the Premier Division, newly-promoted Bracknell Cavaliers got off to a flyer with a 7-0 trouncing of Braybrooke Athletic.

Four-goal Connor Allstow was their star performer after opening the scoring on 10 minutes, before Ben Hoddell’s jinking run set up Dillon Warburton to slide home number two 12 minutes later.

Braybrooke had started brightly in their first Premier game, but Allstow was turning the screw in centre midfield and Cavaliers showed some clinical finishing to hit four more goals in eight minutes before the break to end the game as a contest.

Shaun Andrews netted the third from distance, then Allstow grabbed his second of the match from 20 yards as his shot then beat Braybrooke keeper Liam Kimpton low to his right.

Allstom completed his hat-trick soon after, when he was first to a ball over the top of the Braybrooke defence before Jack Hill scored the sixth following a nasty collision with Kimpton in a chase to a loose ball.

Kimpton required lengthy treatment before he could continue, but then produced a stunning save to tip a goal-bound shot away for a corner.

Braybrooke regrouped at the interval and were a lot tighter in the second period.

Troy Whelan and Steve Loveridge both went close to reducing the deficit before a late penalty for Cavaliers allowed Allstrom to slot home his fourth from the spot and put his side top of the league.

Elsewhere, a number of Premier Division sides were competing in the Berks & Bucks County Cup and another newly promoted side, Super Reeves, got off to a fine start , beating Raglan 4-1.

In Division One, new side Intercity FC are top on goals scored thanks to a 4-1 home defeat of AFC Crowthorne. Jamie Ings netted for Crows.

Finchampstead Reserves also picked up maximum points with a 3-0 away win at Sandhurst FFC at and sit in second place, while both Crowthorne Inn and Ashridge Park recorded 3-1 home wins to sit just behind the early leaders.

Ashridge defeated newly-promoted Bracknell Forest, who had taken the lead early in the second half through Michael Bertoux before Ashridge turned things around with three late goals.

Crowthorne Inn beat Hurricanes while Whitegrove FC were held 1-1 at home by 3M.

Winkfield FC beat Wokingham & Emmbrook 3-0 and also sit joint top, with Adam Avis scoring on his Winks debut to add to further strikes from Ricky Taylor and Bernie McDonagh.

Unfortunately for Winkfield, they lost skipper Adam Woodley in the first half to what appeared to be a further injury to the arm he broke in three places last year.

Surprise leaders of Division Two are Newbold College thanks to a 6-1 win against Winnersh Town which included a hat-trick for Phillip Dimitrovski, two from Eric Pilmoor and a Solomon Fagbami strike.

Berkshire All Stars beat new side WAB FC 7-4. Tom Marshall grabbed a hat-trick for the All Stars, Blake Brown-Koroma netted twice and Yusuf Gois and Jack Keohone were also on target.

WAB scorers were George Lovell, Mason Martley, Tom Smith and Lenny Musgrove.

Joining them at the top are Warfield United who were 2-0 winners over Club 8, while Berks County beat Hope & Anchor 3-2. Berkshire United and Bracknell Athletic drew 3-3.

Winnersh Rangers beat Bracknell Titans 4-0 to go top of Division Three, with Bracknell Falcons second after their 4-1 defeat of Ashridge Park U21s.

Bracknell Royals put last week’s Goals Cup Final disappointment behind them as they ran out 3-2 winners over FC Harmanswater.

A brace from Jack Hellewell helped Silver Birch beat Crownwood Dukes 3-1, David Morgan with Birch’s other.

Player-manager Connor Banks came off the bench to grab the winner for AFC Crowthorne Reserves as they enjoyed a 2-1 home win against Bearwood Wanderers, who had Dave Hunt on target for their consolation. Jack Wheeler was Crows’ other scorer.

There were mixed fortunes in the B&B Intermediate Cup as Finchampstead beat Burghfield Sunday 3-0 and FC Meta beat Maidenhead Nomads 4-2.

However, Binfield Club Athletic lost 7-2 at Emmer Green (Sunday). Morale Madrid are also into the next round with a walkover as Southcote couldn’t fulfill the fixture.
