BERKS County’s disappointing start to the Premier Division season continued as they lost 2-1 at Cookham Dean on Saturday, writes Richard Ashton.

Daniel Hunt gave the hosts an 18th-minute lead, only for Jonny Gosnell to level for the Swords shortly before half-time.

However, a late Lee Hawkins winner sealed Cookham’s victory, leaving Berks County without a point from their opening two games.

Hunt was also on target for the Dean in their 4-3 defeat at Wraysbury Village last Wednesday, with Christian Hayward and Scott Jackson also netting for the visitors.

However, a double from Richard Bond and goals from Danny Nicholls and Joe Jarra – in the 91st minute – completed a fine win for the home side.

Marlow United head the early-season table after maintaining their 100 per cent record with two wins in four days.

Andrew Nichol, Ryan Britnell and Qwamani Thomas were on target in the 3-1 win at home to Hurst on Saturday – Dan Buckley getting the consolation – while Nichol also bagged a brace in the 5-1 demolition of Taplow United last Wednesday.

Liam Bushay, James Namyslak and substitute Jake Kozak completed the rout.

Michael Davies bagged four goals in two games as Mortimer matched Marlow’s efforts.

He scored both of the goals in a 2-0 victory at Woodcote Stoke Row, and also bagged a brace in a 3-2 home victory against Unity on Saturday.

Christopher Byrne notched the winner in the 85th minute.

Ashley Searle, Kaser Chowdary and Dan Donegan all helped themselves to doubles as Reading YMCA thrashed Wraybury Village 6-0 on Saturday, although the Young Men’s perfect start had ended last Wednesday when they were held to a 3-3 draw at home to Newbury.

Chowdary was again on target while Ryan Adams grabbed a brace, but goals from Carl Jenner, Ashley Beckett and Gary Dredge ensured the visitors gained a share of the points.

Lemar Maycock scored twice and Lorenzo Medford and Philip Otele were also on target as Highmoor Ibis Reserves thrashed Woodley United Reserves 4-0 last Wednesday, although the beaten side rebounded with a 2-1 success at Rotherfield United three days later thanks to Adam King and Luke Blakebrough goals.

Rotherfield had previously picked up their first point of the season after drawing 0-0 at home to Unity last Wednesday.

Ross Weatherstone enjoyed his first victory as manager of Woodcote Stoke Row after they won 4-2 at Taplow United on Saturday.

The visitors took a 23rd-minute lead after Jake Dillon’s perfect cross found Sam Tucker, who swivelled well to caress the ball nicely into the corner of the net for 1-0.

Taplow hit back with two goals before the break, but further strikes from Jonny Summers, Tucker and Toby Nowell gave WSR the points.
