BINFIELD FC endured mixed results as they took three points from two Hellenic League Premier Division games during the Bank Holiday weekend.

The Moles were beaten 2-1 at home by Tuffley Rovers on Saturday, but hit back to thrash basement boys Burnham 4-0 on Monday.

In-form Liam Ferdinand put the hosts in front against Tuffley, ending a superb move down the left as Jamie Connor won the ball on the halfway line, surged forward and gave it to Sean Moore, whose run and pass left Ferdinand to cut inside and find the bottom corner with a left footed shot from 15 yards.

The striker nearly doubled the lead on 35 minutes, only for David Evans to make a fine save.

Tuffley deservedly levelled six minutes later when Shane Bradley ended up heading into an empty net, with the big striker jumping in a mismatch with Alex Luis, with the Binfield goal unguarded.

And it was Bradley who struck the winner early in the second half, heading in at the far post.

Binfield returned to winning ways on Monday with new signing George Lock man-of-the-match in their cruise at Burnham.

The ex-Bracknell Town defender opened the scoring after the break, before Ferdinand grabbed his eighth of the season and replacement Matt Jones added a late brace for his new club.

Binfield go to Milton Keynes Academy in the Challenge Cup on Saturday (2.30pm), then host Highmoor Ibis in the league on Monday (7.45pm).
