SEAN Woodward picked up two major awards at Wokingham & Emmbrook’s annual presentation ceremony.

The talented goalkeeper played 48 out of 50 games for the Sumas this season and was outstanding between the sticks.

His eye-catching performances for the Sumas saw him named both Supporters’ Player of the Year and also Players’ Player of the Year on the night.

Midfielder Dan Carter also impressed during the season and was runner-up in the Players’ Player of the Year category.

The award for Managers’ Player of the Year went to first-team captain Will Day.

The cultured centre-back’s commitment to the Sumas was also honours as he collected the Clubman of the Year award.

The Golden Boot prize for leading first-team goalscorer went to Luke Scope after an excellent campaign in front of goal.

Meanwhile, former join manager Dan Bateman and Matt Eggleston received signed framed shirts to thank them for their hard work over the previous three seasons.

Bateman was also given a special award for long service after clocking up 20 years with the Sumas in a variety of roles.

Bateman and Eggleston stepped aside at the end of last season after Sumas were relegated back to Hellenic Division One East.

Both will continue working behind the scenes and will provide support for new boss Clive McNelly.

McNelly recently named Jonny Austin as head coach of Wokingham Reserves, who will play in Hellenic Division Two East.

Austin will be assisted by Jamie Shepherd, who has been promoted from the club’s youth teams.

McNelly said: “I am really pleased to welcome these two young and enthusiastic lads into the fold.

“Jonny has been in and around local football for a long time, and will continue to bring our younger players through to the senior side.

“Jamie has impressed with his vision and thoughts for future at Lowther Road, and certainly deserves his chance at this level following his hard work with our youth teams over the years.

“He’s already proved a great listener, as well as not being afraid to put his points of view over.

“You can see by just watching and listen to him, that he wants to be the best he possible can.”

The ceremony, which was attended by around 100 players and guests, proved to be a memorable night for Craig Haylett who was named the reserve team’s Player’s Player of the Year, Manager’s Player of the Year and Golden Boot winner.

Jake Wheeler won the Supporters’ Player of the Year award for the reserves.
