BINFIELD FC manager Roger Herridge heaped praise on Jean Claude Etienne after seeing him score one goal in their 4-1 win over Highmoor Ibis at Palmer Park on Monday.

The former Maidenhead United youth team player has been staring for Maidenhead Magpies in the Thames Valley League.

But, with players injured or not available, Herridge signed him on and it has proved a good move.

“JC has a lot of potential,” he said. “He is a big strong lad and will get even better when he gets fitter.

“JC showed great strength to score our third goal and he set up the fourth, so a good night’s work from him.”

Binfield, playing their third game in five days, were good value for their win though it wasn’t until late in the game when they made their superiority tell.

The Moles took a 28th-minute lead through Danny Horscroft, who prodded the ball home from 12 yards.

But they only held it for 10 minutes as Anthony White headed the equaliser past keeper Nathan Silver, back in goal after missing Saturday’s 3-0 cup defeat at Flackwell Heath.

Michael Walton, who had another excellent game at the heart of the defence, restored Binfield’s lead on 53 minutes.

Highmoor missed a couple of chances to equalise before Etienne made it 3-1 on 85 minutes and James Knight hammered in a superb fourth just before the final whistle.

Herridge added: “This is never an easy place to come and play, so to finish up 4-1 winners and get another three away points was pleasing.

“At the start of the season we thought we could finish in the top six and and if we can win at Brimscombe on Saturday we can hopefully achieve that.”

Leading scorer Liam Ferdinand, having returned from his holiday in America, returns to the Moles attack.
