THE first League Cup semi-finals took place last weekend as Sunningdale & Wentworth and Finchampstead Athletic Sunday Reserves booked their places in their respective finals.

A thrilling Senior Cup tie between Finchampstead Athletic and Sunningdale & Wentworth went to extra time after a goalless 90 minutes.

Harvey Elliott-Money, Brian Murphy and Rob Willis had S&W’s best chances in normal time, while Finch’s Jamie Currie was denied by keeper Lee Barefoot.

But S&W got the breakthrough in the 100th minute when Jesse Todd’s pass found Murphy who fired past Ben Andrews.

Finch, chasing an equaliser, conceded again in the last minute of extra time when Taylor Elliott-Money headed home a Paul Blanchard corner to send S&W into their third Senior Cup final in four years.

Both sides praised referee Richard Warburton and assistants Dennis Keen and Anthony Howlett for contributing to an excellent cup tie.

In the Junior Cup, Division Two outfit Finchampstead Reserves were convincing 3-0 winners over Division Three Bracknell Royals. A brace from Andy Lazenbury and an Anthony Parsons goal sent them into the final where they will meet either Golden Farmer Reserves or Whitegrove.
