FC FERNHILL must be feeling they have one hand on the Bracknell Town & District Sunday Football League Premier Division title after a convincing 4-1 victory over second-placed Morale Madrid, writes Nick Carpenter.

The vital win puts Fernhill eight points clear at the top of the table and they also have one game in hand.

Sunningdale & Wentworth, who were without a fixture last weekend, could mount a late challenge as they are 10 points behind Fernhill with two games in hand.

Meanwhile, a Gareth Ainsworth hat-trick plus a Matt Humphrey strike helped Finchampstead Athletic Sunday move up to fifth place following their excellent 4-2 win at home to bottom-side Winkfield FC.

Martin Pring replied with a brace for struggling Winks.

Bracknell Manics put the previous week’s 15-0 hammering by Finchampstead Athletic when they only had seven players behind them with a much-improved performance against sixth-placed FC Meta.

Sadly, Manics still slumped to a defeat, but this time only narrowly as they lost 1-0.

In Division One, Bracknell Celtic hit Newbold College for six without reply to remain top of the table.

The win leaves Celtic six points clear at the top and they also have three games in hand over second-placed Braybrooke Athletic.

It was not a good weekend for Braybrooke whose title hopes took a severe dent after a 1-0 defeat to third-placed Bracknell Cavaliers.

Second spot is now under threat for Braybrooke with Cavaliers two point behind, having played two fewer games.

In the same division, AFC Crowthorne and Super Reeves played out a 0-0 draw.

Golden Farmer Reserves needed two second-half goals from Steve Campbell to help them come back from 2-1 down at half time to beat Hurricanes 3-2 in a five-goal thriller.

Felix Ndaba grabbed Farmer’s other goal on the day, while Ryan Milward scored both of Hurricane’s goals.

Farmer are still sitting seventh in the table after the win, but they have plenty of games in hand on the top three teams and could yet play a big part in the promotion race as they attempt to close a 12-point gap on leaders Bracknell Celtic.

In the division’s other game, Ashridge Park and Berks County FC drew 1-1.
Finchampstead Sunday Reserves blew a chance to go top of Division Two after a 3-3 draw against third-placed Whitegrove FC.

A victory would have sent Finch Reserves to the summit as leaders Wokingham & Emmbrook TMW were not in action last weekend.

But they had to settle for a point after sharing six goals with Whitegrove.
Finch Reserves stay second in the table, two points behind Wokingham & Emmbrook TMW but with one game in hand.

Whitegrove, having played the same number of fixtures as Finch Reserves, are two points adrift.

However, with only four points separating the top four teams, promotion is anyone’s in a wide-open division.

Bracknell Forest continue to show steady improvement and climbed up to fifth place following their 5-3 win over FC Harmanswater.

Bottom side Bracknell Falcons lost 2-0 at home to fourth-placed Berkshire All Stars.

Club 8 remain second from bottom as they lost 2-1 at Winnersh Town.

There were only two games in Division Three where bottom side Crownwood Dukes lost 4-2 at home to Bracknell Athletic and Bracknell Royals moved up to third with a 2-0 win at Woodley United Reserves.

Bracknell Saint-Germain continue to lead the division and are now five points in front of AFC Crowthorne Reserves, having played the same number of games.

Bracknell Royals trail Crows Reserves by a further six point, though they do have one game in hand.
