BERKS County FC eased any lingering Premier Division relegation worries with a 2-1 victory at home to rock bottom Highmoor Ibis Reserves, writes Richard Ashton.

Reading YMCA’s title hopes suffered a knock as they were beaten 2-0 by Cookham Dean, Scott Jackson and Kai Smith on target for the visitors.

Greg Beckett and Josiah Miller were on the scoresheet as Mortimer climbed to second with a 3-2 success at Unity, while struggling Taplow United stunned AFC Aldermaston 5-1.

In the Reading Senior Cup, a penalty from Jake Dillon and a late Tommy Chapman thunderbolt were not enough for Woodcote Stoke Row as they lost 3-2 at Hellenic League side Henley Town, the victorious Red Kites going on to play Bracknell Town in the next round.

Marlow United reached the quarter finals with a 4-1 cruise against Newbury. Callum Coull, Andrew Nichol, Ollie Flint and Jonathan Mason were the victors’ goalscorers while Oliver Free grabbed the consolation for Newbury.

Westwood United won 1-0 at Rotherfield United, while Westwood United Reserves completed a good day for the club with a 2-1 success at Mortimer Reserves in the Junior Cup.

Eldon Celtic hammered Woodcote Stoke Row Reserves 6-0, and Wargrave shocked Marlow United Reserves with a 4-3 penalty shootout success following a 1-1 draw after extra time.

Goals from Mikey Jones and Richard White helped Twyford & Ruscombe to a 2-1 victory at Woodley United A in the Jubilee Cup, while Wargrave Reserves edged out Harchester Hawks 1-0 in a hard-fought encounter.

Jean Claude Etienne, Dean Knight, Nathan Lishman and Alan Hasler all scored as Maidenhead Magpies won a nine-goal thriller 5-4 at home to Frilsham & Yattendon, while Cookham Dean Reserves conceded their game against Winnersh Rangers.

James Payne scored four goals and Matthew Bonny, Chase Jacobs, Richard Johnson, Kieran Robinson and Nicholas Payne were also on the scoresheet as Finchampstead Reserves obliterated AFC Aldermaston Reserves 9-1 in Division Three.

Lukasz Hryniewicz struck twice and Dawid Nagoda was also on target as leaders White Eagles crushed AFC Baughurst 4-0.

In Division Five, Sonning Sports smashed AFC Baughurst Reserves 7-2. Wayne Little scored twice with the other Sonning goals coming from Umar Dumbuya, Martin Peters, Liam Richardson, Adam Rose and Danny Snow.

The Hop Leaf moved into second place following a 2-1 victory at Hurst A, while goals from Jonah Vaughan and Lewis Thomas helped Shinfield Rangers to a 2-1 success at Taplow United A.
