WOKINGHAM & Emmbrook Under 12 Girls were crowned winners of the Berkshire County Girls Football League 2016 Futsal Tournament on Saturday.

Wokingham got off to blistering start by beating Tilehurst A 7-2 and Thatcham A 6-2 and drawing 0-0 against Maidenhead.

That was enough to send them through to the final where they met Tilehurst B.

Wokingham went 2-0 up after just five minutes, but Tilehurst fought back and levelled it up at 2-2 entering the closing stages.

However, Wokingham had enough left in the tank to score another two goals for a 4-2 victory to secure the trophy.

The successful Wokingham team were: Poppy Evans, Elizabeth Freeney, Esme Jenkins, Emily Jones, Bethan Graham and Lily Haylett.

Wokingham will now go on to compete in the regional finals.

Meanwhile, Wokingham & Emmbrook Blacks U15s picked up their second away win in a row with a 2-0 victory at Langley Galaxy in East Berks Football Alliance Division One.

Blacks needed keeper Ellis Wisdom to make three crucial saves early on before they broke the deadlock when Amir Idjer rifled home a free kick after Calum Woodfield had been fouled.

Idjer then added a second from long-range in the second-half to secure the win.

Wisdom was named man of the match after Blacks notched their first clean sheet of the season.

Ascot United U12s thumped Carshalton Athletic Purples 6-1 in the league thanks to a brace from Tom Armstrong plus goals from Oskar Ohlenshlager, Lawson Jones, Ashton Prescott and Luca Mercadal.

Ascot United U13s lost 1-0 to Newbury in the county cup, while Ascot United Diamonds U15s were beaten 4-0 by Denham Wildcats.
