TEN-MAN Finchampstead scored twice in injury time to snatch a stunning 4-3 victory at Lambourn in the last 16 of the Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup.

The hosts had an early chance when a John James free-kick whistled past Tom Bryant’s post, before Freddie Barron and Paul Abbott had chances for Finch.

Dan Blatchford then came close for Jon Laugharne’s men before Gavin Rolls gave Finchampstead the lead with a 27th-minute header.

However, Lambourn levelled matters through a James penalty five minutes into the second half, and things got even worse for the visitors when Luke Axton-Hall was sent off with 25 minutes remaining.

Finch rallied, though, and went back in front courtesy of a fine Harry Swabey header from Rolls’ cross.

Lambourn came back again, however, and equalised when Matt Hendred prodded home a Chris Hogan free-kick.

And they looked to have grabbed victory when Matt Pedder’s shot took a deflection to beat Bryant in the 88th minute.

Yet Finchampstead added to the late drama by equalising on the stroke of 90 minutes, Barron taking advantage of some tentative goalkeeping to lob the ball into the net.

The excitement did not end there, however, and in the sixth minute of added time Swabey bagged his second to send Finch into the quarter-finals.
