IN THE final round of Bracknell Town & District Sunday Football League matches, there was a goal-fest in the Premier Division with 22 goals coming from only three matches, writes Nick Carpenter.

Sunningdale & Wentworth end the year five points clear at the top after their 4-2 win at bottom side Winkfield FC.

Davey Blackmore and Ricky Escorcio-Belo put the leaders two up early before Winks centre half Lee Scott headed home from a corner before the break.

The second period was far from comfortable for S&W and it took a brilliant save from Paul Stocks to deny the lively Ricky Davies a Winks equaliser.

Sunningdale were fortunate to earn a penalty for an adjudged handball which Brian Murphy converted before Blackmore was then brought down in the box to allow Murphy to tuck away his second spot-kick for 4-1.

Winks won and scored a penalty of their own with minutes remaining, but it was too little, too late.

Second-placed Binfield Club Athletic were 2-0 up at the break before an altercation at half-time forced the referee to abandon their game with Golden Farmer Rangers.

Third-placed Morale Madrid saw their five-match winning run come to an end in a 5-5 draw with Raglan. Simon Miles hit a hat-trick for Raglan, Adam Porter and Joe Andrews with the others.

Fourth-placed FC Fernhill left it very late at home to FC Meta, scoring two stoppage time goals to grab a 3-3 draw.

The Division 1 performance of the day saw Braybrooke Athletic inflict a first defeat of the season on Bracknell Celtic to move joint top.

Celtic, who slipped from the top to third place, enjoyed the lion’s share of possession but Braybrooke ‘keeper Liam Kimpton in inspired form.

A super Tom Smith strike on 65 minutes gave Braybrooke the lead. Celtic equalised with eight minutes to go, only for Ray McManus to win and score a 93rd minute penalty to seal a 2-1 victory for Braybrooke.

With Celtic slipping up, 3M have now moved top courtesy of a walkover against basement boys Newbold College who were unable to raise a side.
Hurricanes also failed to raise a side and conceded the points to AFC Crowthorne.

Elsewhere, Bracknell Cavaliers enjoyed a fine 4-0 victory at home to Waverley Rangers and Golden Farmer Rangers came back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Berks County FC, Gary Lee and Dan Drew on target for Farmer.

In Division Two, Whitegrove are just a point behind leaders Wokingham & Emmbrook TMW after their 3-0 home win against bottom side Bracknell Falcons.

Third-placed Berkshire All Stars lost 5-2 at home to Bracknell Forest and goals from Scott Ansell and Sam Williams saw FC Harmanswater win by the odd goal in three at Winnersh Town.

Club 8 had to forfeit the points to Warfield United.

In Division Three, Bracknell Saint-Germain went top on goal difference with a convincing 10-3 home win against Finchampstead Sunday A.

They replace AFC Crowthorne Reserves, who slipped up 3-0 at third-placed Bracknell Athletic.

After last week’s defeat at Bearwood Wanderers, Woodley United Reserves bounced back on Sunday with a 3-2 win at local rivals Winnersh Rangers.
Winnersh started brightly but found Jack Wright in Woodley’s goal in fine form.

Midway through the first half Woodley skipper Luke Blakebrough tucked away a penalty after he had been brought down, but Winnersh equalised just before the break.

Woodley regained the lead thanks to a delightful lob from Rob Knight only for Winnersh to level again.

But Woodley grabbed all three points when Matt Croft scored late on.

Bracknell Royals hit Bearwood Wanderers for five without reply, whilst Bracknell Titans beat bottom side Bracknell Manics Reserves 2-1.

In the last remaining BTDSFL Junior Cup quarter-final tie, Finchampstead Athletic Sunday Reserves will now play Bracknell Royals for a place in the final after turning league form on its head and beating Division 2 leaders Wokingham & Emmbrook TMW 4-1.
