IT was Senior and Junior League Cup quarter-finals day in the Bracknell Town & District Sunday Football League last weekend, writes Nick Carpenter.

Senior Cup holders FC Fernhill went out, losing 2-0 at home to Sunningdale & Wentworth.

A first half Dan Walker free-kick gave the visitors the lead before Brian Murphy doubled the advantage midway through the second period when he tapped home from close range after a Walker free-kick had been spilled by Fernhill keeper Josh Baker.

It was harsh on Baker, who otherwise enjoyed an excellent game as he produced a number of top class saves to keep Sunningdale at bay.

The game wasn’t without its ups and downs and with 20 minutes left Sunningdale were reduced to 10 men when Taylor Elliott-Money’s challenge was deemed reckless and he saw red.

Soon after, Fernhill had a great chance to haul themselves back in the tie when a penalty was awarded for a trip on Ben Knight, but Charlie Evanson’s spot kick was expertly saved by Lee Barefoot.

There was still time for Sunningdale’s Ricky Belo Escorcio to almost cap a terrific performance with a goal, but his 20 yard strike cannoned off the crossbar.

Sunningdale will face Finchampstead in one semi-final after Finch were 3-0 winners at home to Division One side 3M. Jamie Currie, Joe Cumnor and Michael Starnes were all on target for Finch.

A Jake White brace and a Conor Reeves goal saw Binfield Club Athletic beat FC Meta 3-1 win. They now face Division One side Waverley Rangers in the other Senior Cup semi-final, after Waverley beat Bracknell Cavaliers 3-2. Dan Moynehan and Ryan Watkinson scored for Cavaliers.

In the BTDSFL Junior Cup, Golden Farmer Rangers Reserves booked their place in the semis with a closely-fought 2-1 win at Division Three side Bracknell Saint-Germain. Felix Nobala and Stuart Kent grabbed Farmer’s goals.

Farmer now face Division Two outfit Whitegrove FC, who beat Bracknell Forest 2-0 with goals from Ben Poynter and Jack Gale.

Another Division Three side, Bracknell Royals, are also into the semis after a 3-2 home win against Bracknell Manics Reserves.

They now await the winners of the Finchampstead Reserves v Wokingham & Emmbrook TMW quarter-final tie this Sunday.

In the Premier Division, with the top three sides all in cup action, Morale Madrid took advantage and are now up to third following their 2-0 win at bottom side Winkfield FC. Dan Money and Ryan Coupland got the goals.

For the second week in a row, Raglan FC did not play, but they got the points thanks to a walkover as injury-ravaged opponents Bracknell Manics couldn’t raise a side.

In Division One, Bracknell Celtic’s 100 per cent record remains intact as goals from Harry Stevens (2), Jamie Tucker (2) and Ryan Cooper sent them top with a 5-3 win against Sandhurst FFC.

Super Reeves’ Gian Barker scored four times they moved back into second spot with a 6-2 win at Berks County. Rob Mackie and Stefan Lavasani were also on target, while Connor Harte and Jordan Watson replied for County.

AFC Crowthorne demolished Newbold College 6-1 with goals from Connor Graham, Simeon Blackwood, Dave Croydon and a Rio Athwell hat-trick. Ben Dzunic netted for Newbold.

In the division’s game of the day Braybrooke Athletic’s Ryan McManus hit a five-timer as they narrowly beat Hurricanes 6-5 to keep themselves in contention and into joint-third spot. Jesse Faulkner grabbed the all-important sixth goal for Braybrooke.

In Division Two, second-placed Berkshire All Stars beat FC Harmanswater 7-5. Mitchell Carpenter, Calvin Grainger, Dean Clayton, Shy Hussey, Oliver Pitkin, Michael Matthews and an own goal accounted for All Stars’  goals.

Sadly, a Scott Ansell hat-trick and strikes from Wayne Antoni and Matt Cory weren’t quite enough for Harmanswater.

Finchampstead Sunday Reserves are up into third thanks to a 6-1 defeat of Warfield United.
Bottom side Bracknell Falcons had hat-trick hero Phil Molyneux to thank for a point at home to Hope & Anchor in a 3-3 draw. Josh Gladstone also scored a hat-trick for H&A.

Club 8 picked up their second win in 10 matches, beating Winnersh Town 3-0.

AFC Crowthorne Reserves stay top of Division Three despite a 5-2 loss at Bracknell Athletic. Chris Jefferies (3), Kai Barkes and Ben Warmingham netted for Athletic, while Dale Coke hit both Crows’ goals.

Winnersh Rangers returned to winning ways as Lewis Hester, Neal McDowell, James Evans, Tom Whitfield and Sam Belton scored in a 5-0 win against Bracknell Titans.

Finchampstead Sunday A beat Crownwood Dukes 2-0 with an Adam Streeter brace. Rob Knight also scored twice for Woodley United Reserves in a 5-2 loss to Bearwood Wanderers.
