HELLENIC League Premier Division basement boys Wokingham & Emmbrook blew a two-goal lead as they were held to a 2-2 draw at Oxford City Nomads, writes Richard Ashton.

Josh Pearson put Sumas in front early on after Elliott Rushforth’s effort was well saved, and the lead was doubled when Sam Bateman finished well following some fine skill by Dan Collier.

The home side cut the gap before the break with a goal on the counter-attack, before a Pearson free-kick was well blocked.

Dan Bateman and Matt Eggleston’s men continued to have the better of the chances and James Charlton was unfortunate not to extend their advantage.

Jake Butler’s header then hit the crossbar from a corner, but with just five minutes remaining, the visitors’ hearts were again broken as Nomads grabbed an equaliser.

Wokingham & Emmbrook were due to visit Ascot United last night (Tuesday).

Finchampstead FC

A LAST-MINUTE equaliser deprived Finchampstead of victory as they drew their Berkshire derby 2-2 with Holyport in the Hellenic League Division One East.

Finch’s Danny Blatchford hit the bar early on, but the home side fell behind on 20 minutes when Paul Rake stabbed home from inside the area.

Tom Bryant was forced into a good save as Holyport continued to attack, but Blatchford and Freddie Barron also had opportunities as the hosts went in 1-0 down at the break.

Blatchford levelled matters after the break, and Greg Alexander then put Finch in front on 65 minutes when he nodded home a Harry Swabey cross.

However, they were pegged back at the death as substitute Rob Boyd netted for Holyport to snatch a point.

Eversley & California

EVERSLEY & California's worrying Combined Counties League Division One form continued as they were thrashed 4-1 at Bedfont & Feltham.

The Boars started well and took a 17th-minute lead when Aaron Voller headed home from a Paul Douglas corner.

Goals from Karle Carder-Andrews, Leius Sinclair and a Michael Campbell brace turned the game on its head and the visitors were well beaten at the end of 90 minutes.

Sandhurst Town

SANDHURST Town lost 3-0 at home to Worcester Park in their Combined Counties League Division One encounter on Saturday.

The Fizzers’ Southern Combination Cup clash with Horsley was postponed on Tuesday of last week. They were due to meet at Bottom Leadow last night (Tuesday).
