ASCOT United scored five unanswered goals against Chinnor to ease into the fourth round of the Perpetua Press Floodlit Cup on Tuesday night.

The visitors held out for 30 minutes at the Racecourse before their resistance was finally broken and the floodgates opened.

Ascot would have been wary of Chinnor's threat after the Oxfordshire side knocked out Hellenic Premier rivals, Wokingham & Emmbrook, to set up the clash.

But there was no chance of in-form Yellamen suffering the same fate.

However, they did have an early scare when Daniel Stone's clever back-header deceived everyone and bounce off Chris Grace's crossbar.

But the home side upped their game and saw Ross Sheldon, Joe Yeates and Jamie West go close at the other end.

Chinnor, though, were proving hard to break down until two goals in quick succession knocked the stuffing out of the visitors.

Ian Brooks broke the deadlock on the half-hour mark after Grace's long clearance was poorly dealt with by defender Jamie Britnell.

And a one minute later Ascot scored a second with a brilliant strike from West.

Yellamen were now in complete control and Chinnor keeper Ben Taunton made crucial saves to deny West and Brooks as the hosts threatened to run riot.

The second half was one-way traffic as Seldon rattled the crossbar before Steve Deverall scored directly from a corner to put Yellamen 3-0 up.

Ascot did suffer a blow when substitute David Pitt pulled a hamstring just seven minutes after coming on.

Pitt, though, watched his teammates rattle in two more goals before the end, both of them scored by Joe Grant.

Ascot will now play Binfield in the fourth round.

It was a memorable week for the Yellamen who won 2-0 at Penn & Tylers Green in the Bluefin Sport Challenge Cup on Saturday.

Goals from West and Brooks were enough to secure victory for Ascot in the second-round tie.

Ascot return to Hellenic Premier action this Saturday when they travel to Lydney Town (3pm).
