BERKS County reached the second round of the BTC Senior Cup after beating Maidenhead Magpies 4-3 on penalties – with the game having remarkbly ended 6-6 after extra time, writes Richard Ashton.

The Swords blitzed their opponents as they took a 4-0 lead inside 20 minutes, Jonny Gosnell netting twice and Ross Miller and captain Sam Dennison also on the scoresheet.

Incredibly, a Xavier Etienne hat-trick and goals from Kai Smith and Jean-Claude Etienne put Magpies 5-4 in front, only for Richard Brock’s 88th-minute strike for County to force the game into extra time.

Smith put the visitors back in front as the goals continued to flow, but Sean Graham netted with just three minutes of added time remaining to set up a penalty shoot-out.

Brock, Graham and Miller all scored before County goalkeeper Lewis Grant saved the third Maidenhead spot-kick, and when Josh Dillon scored it was 4-2 to the hosts.

Maidenhead slotted their next before Gosnell skied his kick, but another Grant save put his side into the next round.

Darrel Fairbrother scored a brilliant hat-trick as Reading YMCA thrashed Newbury 6-0, Jamie Bell adding a double and Matt Drake completing the rout.

Holders Marlow United edged out visitors Woodcote Stoke Row 3-2 after extra time. Liam Bushay put the home side in front on 14 minutes, only for Jake Dillon to level just before the half hour.

Qwamani Thomas put Marlow 2-1 up on 35 minutes, but another Dillon strike ensured extra time was called for.

However, Bushay’s second goal ensured Marlow remain unbeaten this season and on course to defend their title.

Callum Denning, Lee Hawkins and Paul Sharpe were all on the scoresheet for Cookham Dean as they beat Frilsham & Yattendon 3-1, and Unity won by the same scoreline at Taplow United.

A Kai Parton-Edey brace and a Martin King goal gave AFC Aldermaston a 3-2 win at Rotherfield United, with Aaron Attfield and Simon Frost scoring for the hosts.

Shane Small bagged the only goal of the game as Highmoor Ibis Reserves squeezed past Hurst 1-0, while Mortimer thrashed Woodley United Reserves 5-0.

Greg Beckett and Dominic Mckenzie both scored twice and substitute Michael Davies added a late gloss to the scoreline.

Reading YMCA Rapids beat Taplow United Reserves 6-5 in a classic Intermediate Cup tie.

Keiron Mabbutt hit a hat-trick for the Young Men, with Mark Lemm adding a double and Adam Cayzeralso on target.

Westwood United hammered Winnersh Rangers 7-2, and Cookham Dean Reserves came from behind to beat Twyford and Ruscombe 3-1.

Lee Mills had given the hosts a 25th-minute lead, but Jack Hawxwell, Ryan Henry and Stuart Harris strikes put the Dean through.

Ian Gerrard was on target for Ashridge Park but they were beaten 3-1 at Westwood United Reserves, while Lukasz Hryniewicz’s goal was not enough for White Eagles as they lost by the same score at home to Barkham Athletic.
