BINFIELD FC picked up their second away win and clean sheet in four days with a 2-0 victory at Milton United.

Moles followed up their 4-0 success at Oxford City Nomads last Wednesday with another three points at Milton on Saturday to move up to seventh place in the Hellenic Premier table.

Binfield boss Roger Herridge kept faith with the same team that defeated Nomads, while fit-again duo Liam Ferdinand and Reid Brown returned to the bench.

The visitors started brightly with Jemel Johnson firing wide, but they were dealt a blow on 20 minutes when Danny Horscroft was forced off with an Achilles problem and was replaced by Brad Brown.

Brown wasted little time in making an impact after starting and finishing the game’s opening goal eight minutes later.

He surged forward from the halfway line, fed Johnson out wide before continuing his run into the box to collect Johnson’s return pass and stab the ball home.

Herridge’s men were forced to weather some pressure from the hosts, but they also looked dangerous in attack with Jack Gibbs and Lewis Leonetti both going close before the interval.

Johnson and Brown threatened again after the restart, though Moles were relieved to see a free header from Milton’s Harry Dalton miss the target at the other end.

Nevertheless, Moles continued to create the better opportunities but James Knight’s shot was smothered by Milton keeper Craig Griffiths and, although Brown beat Griffiths to the rebound, his effort was cleared off the line.

Josh Howell also saw a goal scrubbed out for offside as Moles pressed for a second.

It finally arrived in the 72nd minute when substitute Ferdinand, returning from a five-match lay-off, was bundled over in the box by Sam Jenkins and Howell made no mistake from the spot.

Binfield travel to high-flying Kidlington this Saturday (3pm ko).
