READING YMCA saw their unbeaten record in the Thames Valley League go up in smoke after a 4-3 defeat away at Mortimer on Saturday.

The visiting team had opened up a clear lead at the top of the Premier Division, but they were undone by Mortimer at the Alfred Palmer Memorial Playing Fields.

Strikes from Gareth Davies and Gregory Beckett gave the hosts a two-goal advantage at the half-time interval.

The contest was still alive until the final two minutes when substitutes Dominic Mckenzie and Michael Davies netted to secure the points for Mortimer.

Marlow United took advantage of a rare slip-up from Reading to close the gap at the top of the table after a 6-2 win at struggling Taplow United.

Andrew Nichol was the star on show with a hat-trick; Liam Bushay helped himself to a brace and sub Wesley Sutherland was also on target. Henry Bailey and substitute Simon Murtagh scored for bottom-of-the-table Taplow.

Newbury dropped two places to fourth position in the table following a narrow 2-1 defeat at the hands of Berks County.

Scott Bowers netted for the home team at Faraday Road, and Jonathan Gosnell scored one of two goals for the winning side.

Unity picked up a valuable point after holding Woodcote Stoke Row to a 2-2 draw at Cintra Park. Kissima Jatta and sub Ash Mullins were both on target for the hosts.

Cookham Dean leapfrogged Hurst into ninth place in the table following a 3-1 home win against Hurst.

Rotherfield United kept themselves above Highmoor Ibis Reserves after a 4-2 away victory. Aaron De Rama and sub Luquan Small scored for the losing side.

Westwood United continued their perfect start in Division One after a 9-0 thrashing of Cookham Dean Reserves at the Cotswold Sports Club.

Frilsham & Yattendon secured a second league win this season when beating Highmoor Under-21 7-3 in a 10-goal thriller.

Nathan Pagliaroli topped the bill with a hat-trick and Mark Foster scored in both halves. There were also goals for Kyle Andrews and Ross Johnson.

Highmoor played their part in the entertainment at Frilsham Playing Fields with James Robinson twice finding the back of the net, and Shaquille Robotham also on target.

Winnersh Rangers pulled clear of the bottom clubs thanks to a 3-1 win over AFC Corinthians.

In Division Two, Westwood United Reserves continue to set the pace despite being held to a 1-1 away at Eldon Celtic.

Marlow United Reserves could not take advantage when they only managed a 2-2 draw with Ashridge Park.
