SUNNINGDALE & Wentworth remain top of the Bracknell Town & District Sunday Football League Premier Division thanks to a 3-2 win against FC Meta.

Richard Massingham’s turn inside and deflected shot on 20 minutes gave Sunningdale the lead in a first period that they dominated.

But they failed to take their chances and when they did shoot on target they found Meta keeper Tom Andrews in inspired form.

Meta’s hard work through the middle brought an equaliser when Bryon Duncan’s shot from a tight angle took a wicked deflection to beat Lee Barefoot at his near post.

The goal visibly lifted the visitors and the tireless Jake Brookes was suddenly everywhere as Meta finished the half on top.

Sunningdale regained the lead 10 minutes after the restart when Davey Blackmore capitalised on a loose ball in midfield and the diminutive striker raced away to finish low past Andrews.

However, Meta bounced back again and found a second equaliser when player-manager Oli Johnson beat the Sunningdale defence and bravely headed over Barefoot.

In the final 20 minutes the game could have gone either way as both defences were put under increasing pressure by two attack-minded sides.

Then, with five minutes remaining, a 40 yard pin-point cross from Matt Sellens found the head of Rob Ellis and Sunningdale’s top scorer planted the ball back across Andrews and into the far corner to secure all three points.

Sunningdale hope to keepmaintain their 100 per cent record when they visit last season’s champions and title favourites FC Fernhill this Sunday.

The only other Premier Division game saw Binfield Club Athletic hold on to second place despite a 1-1 draw at home to Bracknell Manics, Jake White with Bins’ strike.

In Division One, goals from Tom Cooper, Michael Elliott and Ross Barnett helped Super Reeves win a close encounter with Golden Farmer Reserves 3-1 to move top as both Braybrooke Athletic and Hurricanes slipped up. Veteran striker Colin Hutchins scored Farmer’s consolation.

Braybrooke lost 2-1 at home to Sandhurst FFC while Hurricanes also lost 5-3 at home to 3M.

Martyn Earl (2), Ryan Dixon, Josh Mason and Mark Tyler scored for 3M. Last season’s Golden Boot winner, Ryan Milward, notched a brace for Hurricanes and Sam Jolley got their other goal.

Newbold College got their first points of the season as they beat Berks County 2-1.

In the only other league game, Waverley Rangers romped to a 4-1 win at home to Bracknell Cavaliers.

Finchampstead Sunday Reserves went above Hope & Anchor to the top of Division Two with a 5-0 thrashing of Winnersh Town.

Berkshire All Stars stay a point behind in second after their 4-0 win at new boys Bracknell Forest, whilst Wokingham & Emmbrook TMW are level second as they beat Bracknell Falcons 3-2.

Hope & Anchor player-manager Graham Birch bagged a rare goal as they shared a six goal thriller with Harmanswater FC in a 3-3 draw. Josh Gladstone and Dannie Campbell provided H&A’s others, and Harmanswater had John Simpson, Wayne Antoni and Sam Williams to thank for their goals.

Bracknell Saint Germain and AFC Crowthorne Reserves are locked at the top of Division Three level on points.

However, BSG have a far superior goal difference as they beat Woodley United Reserves 3-1, Rob Knight scoring for Woodley. Crows beat bottom side Crownwood Dukes 3-1.
