BRACKNELL TOWN remain without a point in the Hellenic League Premier Division after suffering their fourth successive defeat at home to Ardley United on Saturday.

It was a young Bracknell side that took to the field on a boiling hot summer’s day at Larges Lane.

The game started slowly but it was Bracknell that had the better of the chances – despite the visitors controlling possession.

Shane Cooper-Clark couldn’t take two golden opportunities that presented themselves at the half-hour mark.

He rattled the crossbar first of all, before being denied two minutes later by the outstretched leg of Jack Goode in the Ardley goal.

The two chances gave Bracknell belief and they controlled the rest of the half despite rarely creating any more opportunities.

Luke Ingram did go close for the visitors on the stroke of half-time, but Adam Kennedy did just enough to put him off.

The second period began as the first had ended with Ingram again through on goal, but he was denied by home keeper Garry Aulsberry.

It was the visitors coming on strong throughout the second period and Kennedy was relieved to see his backwards header narrowly go wide of the post, with Aulsberry beaten.

The goal was coming and it duly arrived in the 66th minute when Ardley took a deserved lead from a set-piece. Chris Jackson headed a corner goalwards and it was blocked on the line, before Andy Prescott fired home from point-blank range to break the deadlock.

The goal woke Keith Pennicott-Bowen’s men up and they started to pour forward, with Jake White forcing Goode into a fine save just moments after the restart.

Cooper-Clark then shaved the top of the crossbar with a fierce drive but that was as good as it got for Bracknell as they slipped to defeat.

The Robins were due to play Wokingham & Emmbrook last night, before a trip to Ascot on Monday (3pm).
