The victory ensured Sunningdale jumped up two places to finish fifth.

Sunningdale raced into a 2-0 lead courtesy of Goss before reserve defender and stand-in keeper Aaron Flisik saved a second half Sam Whiting penalty to preserve the two-goal lead.

But it wouldn’t last as Fernhill’s Elliott Rushforth and Charlie Evanson both fired home to level the score at 2-2.

Sunningdale continued to work hard throughout though, and the outstanding Harvey Elliott-Money seemed to cover every blade of grass alongside Matt Sershall in central midfield, allowing Paul Blanchard and Reserves manager Alan Matthias to pick their passes.

The direction of the game turned 10 minutes from time when Rushforth was given his marching orders.

Sunningdale had the extra man and they made it count as Goss slotted the ball past Josh Baker in Fernhill’s goal with just over five minutes remaining.

Whiting couldn’t have worked harder for Fernhill as they stretched the Sunningdale defence trying to find an equaliser but it wasn’t to be.

The result didn’t alter the fact that Fernhill secured the title – on goal difference from runners-up Finchampstead.

In Division One there are only two games left to play and Bracknell Falcons can move up to 10th place if they win their final game after securing a comprehensive 5-2 win at Ashridge Park on Sunday.

Callum Streatley scored a brilliant hat-trick, and there were further goals from Mike Gawan and Phil Molyneux for Falcons.

Dan Sharratt and Daniel Merritt replied for Ashridge but it wasn’t enough to avoid defeat.

In the other game played, Winkfield FC secured fourth spot after beating Parks FC 4-2.

In Division Two, Braybrooke Athletic struggled to pick themselves up from their cup final defeat on Friday as they lost 5-0 to champions Sandhurst FFC.

Despite the result, Braybrooke can be proud of a fine season after they finished second in the table.

There are no games left to play in Division Three.
