The home side got off to the best possible start when skipper Mike Starnes drilled the ball home on 10 minutes following great build up play by Leon Mannion, pictured below.

Finch doubled their lead on the half-hour mark when Byron Hobbs whipped in a sublime cross from the left for Mannion to head home at the far post.

But Newbury Sunday League Premier Division champions Doc House rallied in the second period and their pressure paid off on the hour when a free-kick wasn’t cleared by the Finch defence, leaving an easy tap-in for 2-1.

However, Finch soon regained their two-goal advantage when man-of-the-match Mannion capitalised on a goalkeeping error to slot in his second of the game.

Doc House hit back and made it 3-2 with 15 minutes left to set up a nervy finish for the Bracknell Town & District Sunday League hosts.

And the visitors almost grabbed a late equaliser when Finch were forced to clear off their own line twice before finally holding on to win the semi final.

Finch manager Mark Higgins said: “I was absolutely delighted with the performance and result. Both sides played their part in what was an excellent game of football.” The final will take place next month when Finch will play Thames Valley Sunday League outfit Wraysbury Bentons, who beat Slough-based Real Milan 5-2 in the other semi-final.
