The talented girls have blazed a trail to the top of the Surrey County Girls League Division One table, firing home an incredible 55 goals in just 16 games, and conceding just 15.

They have lost just twice all season – albeit going down to a 2-1 defeat against Molesey at the weekend.

Manager Peter Vince paid tribute to his team and said: “With this being my second season in charge of the team, I could not be more proud of not only how the girls have developed as a team and started to play some fantastic football, but also how they gel as a squad.

“This makes it a joy to coach them, along with my coaching partner Teresa Pullen, and just to see all the girls enjoying playing football, and playing football in the right manner.

“Their commitment every Sunday is commendable and I want to congratulate them all for what has been a superb achievement.” He added: “We have battled through waterlogged, mud-ridden pitches on freezing cold Sunday mornings, always with a trail of dedicated family supporters in tow.

“It was a shame, one of the losses was on Sunday, but I think with the title already sewn up, and Molesey in the hunt for runners-up, it was their cup final.” Molesey took the lead on Sunday when a long ball caused confusion at the back, with the visitors punishing the error by scoring from distance.

However, Ascot then rallied and scored a deserved equaliser with a smart shot by Amy Woollard from the edge of the area, only for Molesey to regain the lead on the stroke of halftime when a whipped cross-cum-shot ended up in the net.

Second half was a far more open game, with Ascot pushing for the equaliser, but they just could not get the second goal to earn a deserved draw.

After a goalless first-half, Oranges broke the deadlock early in the second period thanks to Matt Hales (pictured above).

Wanderers equalised soon after but Oranges quickly recovered and won a penalty after a player handled a shot from Finley Stallwood on the line, and Ben Morris made no mistake to put his side back in front.

Oranges were forced to soak up plenty of pressure after that, but they could breathe a little easier when man-of-the-match Hales fired home from Stallwood’s cross to secure the win.

Wokingham & Emmbrook U14s chalked up a mammoth 8-0 win at Sandhurst Town in the Berks County Girls League, with all the goals coming in the first half.

They dominated the nine-a-side match against basement side Sandhurst and stormed into a 2–0 lead inside 11 minutes thanks to goals from Anna O’Leary and Amelia Abbott.

The floodgates soon opened and O’Leary went on to complete her seventh hat-trick of the season before the 25-minute mark.

She was joined by player-of-the-match Abbott who also plundered a first-half hat-trick, her second treble of the campaign.

Rebecca Greig rounded things off with both of Wokingham’s other goals to take her tally to 12 for the season, as the visitors led 8-0 at the interval.

Wokingham shuffled their pack and formation for the second half with several players out of position including top-scorer O’Leary, who went in goal.
