DEPARTING captain Matt Jones believes he is leaving the future of Finchampstead Cricket Club in safe hands.

The talented batsman announced his decision this week to leave childhood club Finch and join Home Counties Premier Division Two side Falkland.

There the Berkshire vice captain will link up with his superior at Minor Counties level, James Morris, and look to drive the West Berkshire side up the Home Counties League.

"It's definitely not a decision that I made lightly," Jones told the News. "It took me a lot of time to think about it. At the end of the day though I think it was something I had to do.

"Playing for Berkshire, being vice captain now, and also wanting to push myself more, I felt it was the right move.
