WOKINGHAM CC skipper Dan Reddyhough declared himself proud of his team, despite their defeat to Reading that all but ends their title ambitions.

Needing a victory to close the growing gap on the leaders, Wokingham were bowled out for 119 on a tricky wicket at Sadler's End.

And although they reduced Reading to 80-6, the Sonning Lane side edged home in 50 overs to extend their advantage over Wokingham to 49 points.

Reddyhough admitted afterwards that his side are probably now out of contention with only six games remaining but had no complaints about the standard of their performance against the runaway leaders.

"I'm very proud of our boys and their display," said Reddyhough. "We didn't give up at all, we kept fighting until the end and maintained our performance throughout, we played very well against a good side.

"We have to realign our thoughts and first and foremost make sure we stay in the division because it is congested. Then we will focus on finishing in the top two places and ensure we are there if Reading do slip up and have a shocking run of form, which seems unlikely but could happen."
