ROYAL Ascot skipper Nick Sweetman is confident his side are on track to mount a promotion bid this season.
Ascot are currently fifth in Division 3b, just seven points off second spot.
And with some key games coming up, including a trip to Cookham Dean this
Saturday, Sweetman knows his side could be in a strong position in a fortnight"s time.
He said: 'We"re playing well. We"ve been strong with the bat all season and the bowling has been good.
'Everybody has contributed at some point which is good to see.
'We"ve got some big games coming up now. We"re at Cookham Dean this weekend who we are level on points with and then we go to Slough.
'If we can get two wins from those games we will be right up around the promotion spots.'
Ascot were left frustrated last weekend as they had to settle for the better of a draw against Teddington Town.
Sweetman hit 100 in just 91 balls to add to good knocks from James Wensley (64) and Mark Davies (41) as his side posted 317-6 from just 47 overs.
The hosts battled bravely with the ball but had to deal with the weather and bad light as Teddington held on at 182-8.
Sweetman said: 'It was frustrating not to get the win but 14 points is not to be sniffed at.
'We got a very good score, declared early to give ourselves a chance but then we had a thunderstorm and lost about an hour.
'After we mopped things up we gave it a go but by the time they lost some wickets at the end it was too dark to bowl my quicks.
'It was a bit disappointing to only draw but it was another good performance from the lads.'
