IAN Gibson’s 107 not out from 105 balls led Sulhamstead 3rds to a 44-run Division Two victory at home to Warfield in the Berkshire Cricket League, writes Richard Ashton.

Sully posted a respectable 194-5 in their 45 overs, and despite Andrew Sutcliffe making a run-a-ball 46, Warfield were dismissed for 150 in reply.

Arun Kumar took stunning figures of 4-8 from his 10 overs as table-topping Shinfield 2nds (110-5) eased to a five-wicket win against Knowl Hill (109-8).

Matt Vines (4-13) made a big impact on his return as Peppard Stoke Row 3rds beat Wokingham 6ths by seven wickets to record their first win of the season.

The Oaks were bowled out for 122, but despite losing a couple of early wickets, James Hern (49no) and the big-hitting Mark Lambert (41no including four maximums) led PSR home.

Kaseem Ali’s 57 helped West Reading 3rds (150) to a 28-run triumph against Purley on Thames 3rds (122), Prashant Panwar bagging 4-48 for the Potters.

Sandhurst 2nds conceded their game at home to Welford Park 2nds.

Checkendon sit top of the Premier Division although they had to settle for a winning draw at home to Ibis Mapledurham.

Shiva Aruna (89) and Ujwal Tickoo (66) had Checks flying on 135-1, but a brilliant spell from veteran Chad Cudjoe (6-14) put Ibis back in the game as they dismissed the hosts for 196.

The Mapledurham reply never really got going, however, and they were forced to hang on at 103-9 as Amol Tyagi (3-26) impressed with the ball.

Woodcote suffered a first defeat of the James Worsfold captaincy era, going down by 120 runs to neighbours Goring.

Worsfold took 3-41, but Ollie Carrier’s 60 led the visitors to 209, and Parvesh Dabra (3-21) and Pete Slade (3-32) then ran through the Woodcote batting line-up to skittle them for a mere 89.

Aaqib Zaheer and Andy Johnson both scored 59 as Mortimer West End (231-8) picked up a first win of the season with a 131-run trouncing of basement boys Farley Hill.

Ali Jalil took 3-9 for the hosts, but they were then shot out for 100 as Ian Wise (4-29) and skipper Nick Kingston (3-22) ran riot.

Calvin Hall took 4-37 for Sandhurst (129-9), but they slipped to a 49-run reverse at Woodley (178). Arshad Mohamed bagged 3-29 for the home side to lead them to victory.

Division One leaders Shinfield hammered Stratfield Turgis by 158 runs.

Captain Shashank Garg (64), Jay Deshmukh (47) and Naveed Naseer (46) were all among the runs as the pacesetters smashed 263, Ben Jiggins the pick of the attack with 4-62.

There was little resistance from the hosts in reply, Stratfield bowled out for 95 as Muhammad Hafeez (4-18) and Garg (3-31) starred.

Openers Adnan Raja (64) and Zain Raja (61) gave second-placed West Reading 2nds (253-8 declared in 44 overs) the perfect platform to beat Peppard Stoke Row 2nds (147) by 106 runs.

Saad Jaffary (4-32) and Waleed Choudhry (3-29) did the damage with the ball for Wests.

Robin Thompson (94no and 3-13 from 12 overs) starred with bat and ball as Twyford & Ruscombe dominated their game at Earley.

Skipper Shiva Nagam also chipped in with 58 as Twyford amassed 249-6, but Ollie Johnson’s 42 allowed Earley to reach 158-9 in reply.

Simon Sheppard (66) and Tom Nash (45) impressed for Crowthorne & Crown Wood 2nds (214-7) as they had the better of a draw at home to Hawley.

Sam Heighes took 4-70 for the visitors, who struggled to 95-6 in reply.

Chris Sharpe top scored with an unbeaten 47, but it was not enough to stop Waltham St Lawrence (169-8) losing by five wickets to Woodley 2nds (171-5).

Captain Upendra Deshpande (84no) and Amol Lotke (60) did the bulk of the damage in the run chase.

In Division Three, a sensational 145 not out from George Williams inspired table-topping Mortimer West End 2nds to a resounding 140-run victory at home to Crowthorne & Crown Wood 3rds.

His knock enabled MWE to reach an impressive 265-9, and they then knocked over the visitors for 125.

A brilliant bowling performance rescued Mortimer as they beat Falkland Development by 87 runs.

Lained Dsouza’s 4-16 helped bowl out Mortimer for just 145, but a wonderful spell from Jimmy George (4-24) skittled the visitors for a mere 58.

Hassan Arif’s 40 helped second-placed West Reading 4ths (161) beat Earley 2nds (101) by 60 runs.

Sanjay Gurung took 4-17 for Earley, but Raheem Suliman (4-30) and Arif (3-5) proved too good as Wests secured the win.

Waltham St Lawrence 2nds conceded their game at Binfield 3rds.

  • ROCK bottom Crowthorne & Crown Wood endured another day to forget as they were thumped by seven wickets at Berkshire, Chilterns and Mid Bucks Championship leaders Harpsden.

Will Avrili (23) and Richard Barron (17) had actually given the Crows a solid opening start, but after they departed, Shazad Rahman was the only other player to reach double figures in a disappointing score of 89.

Johnny Wright was the main man for Harpsden, taking 6-21.

Rob Crook dismissed openers Adam Birkett and Sam Imlay for a combined total of one, but Ben Hancock (37) and captain Christian Whittaker (43no) ensured there were no further alarms for the early-season pacesetters.

Shair Khan took 4-36 as Ruislip Victoria (181-7) beat Ley Hill (177) by three wickets. Chris Morris made 48 batting at No. 9 for Hill, but Kashif Maan’s 70 set things up for the Victorians to complete a fine win.

Dan Winter’s 5-34 set Chalfont St Giles (90-2) up for a convincing eight-wicket win at home to Penn & Tylers Green, skipper Chris Cross then making 51 not out to steer the run chase.

Nasser Satti blasted a staggering 11 sixes in his 58-ball 106 not out for Braywood in their winning draw at Welford Park.

Anas Dad (56 from 38 balls) and Yaser Ahmed (55) were also among the runs as the visitors declared on 300-5 in 49 overs, but a wonderfully resolute knock from Richard Jones (108no from 168 balls) helped Park just survive on 183-9.

Prijith Vijayan was the pick of the attack with 3-53.

Peppard Stoke Row produced the shock of the day as they beat title contenders West Reading by 87 runs.

PSR were in early trouble at 38-3, but Dan Hayden’s sublime 98 guided the home side to 237-9 despite Adeel Razaq’s 5-32.

Off spinner Max Baker-Smith (4-57) ripped through the top order, and despite Usman Tariq (81no) offering some resistance, Wests were dismissed for 150.

  • STRUGGLING Emmbrook & Bearwood remain winless in the Premier Division of the Chilterns League following a four-wicket reverse at Great Kingshill.

Richard Cole’s 36 not out made sure the Bears at least reached 102, but despite Ravi Balakrishnan (3-23) and Mark Cobb (3-30) bowling well, the hosts reached 105-6 in 32.5 overs.

In Division Three, Emmbrook & Bearwood 2nds (172) lost to Penn & Tylers Green 2nds (221-9) be 49 runs.

Andrew Robertson was the Bears’ man of the match, hitting 79 from 66 balls.
