ALMOST 100 people enjoyed the Berkshire League presentation night at Goring & Streatley Golf Club on Friday night.

It was a night of great success for Sulhamstead, who collected their Premier Division trophy on the back of a memorable campaign in which they won 12 of their 13 completed games.

Peppard Stoke Row were runners-up.

Sulhamstead 3rds ensured a double by winning Division Four ahead of Shinfield 2nds, while Sully’s 1st team captain Aaron Briggs was Wicketkeeper of the Year with 24 dismissals (20 catches, four stumpings).

The Division One champions were Bradfield, who edged out Emmbrook & Bearwood, while Waltham St Lawrence were kings of Division Two ahead of Shinfield.

West Reading 3rds picked up the Division Three title, with Sandhurst 2nds finishing second.

The Calcot Shield for best sportsmanship throughout the season was awarded to Crowthorne and Crown Wood, while the Panel Umpire gong went to Martin Bishop, who averaged an impressive 9.3 out of 10 in the 24 marks he attracted during the season.

The Club Umpire of the Year award went to John Carr of Ibis Mapledurham, with Peppard Stoke Row’s Janet Halliday winning the Scorer of the Year trophy ahead of West Reading’s Ruqqayah Davidson, Woodcote’s Claire Whickman and Sulhamstead’s Keith Briggs.

West Reading completed a double in the overall Batsman and Bowler of the Year categories, Zafar Ali and Adeel Razaq winning those trophies respectively.

Crowthorne’s Julian O’Loughlin was Fielder of the Year with 12 catches, while Asim Hussain from West Reading 3rds was the Young Player of the Year.

The divisional batsman of the year prizes went to Checkendon’s Manpreet Singh in Division One, Ankush Ghandi from Waltham St Lawrence in Division Two, Hugh Asquith of Peppard Stoke Row (Division Three) and Binfield 3rds’ John Humphrey (Division Four).

The bowling equivalents were scooped by Richard Cole (Emmbrook & Bearwood), Shinfield’s Anuraag Shukla, Adeel Rafiq from West Reading 3rds and Mortimer West End 2nds’ all rounder Bob Hodson, whose average was just 5.57.
