BERKSHIRE women were thrashed by nine wickets against Birmingham Bears in their Twenty 20 Division One game at Harrogate on Sunday.

A calamitous Berkshire batting performance saw Emily Cunningham caught by Georgia Davis off the bowling of Katie Green with the score on nine, and shortly after Anna Harris was bowled by Laura Crofts for a second-ball duck.

Sherisa Gumbs top scored with eight before she was knocked over by Green, who then trapped Amelia Humphrey in front to make it 20-4.

Annabel Flack fell cheaply while Alex Rogers tried to hang around, taking 24 balls for her two before she became the sixth wicket with the score on 29.

There was very little resistance from the tail and Berkshire were eventually routed for just 41 in 16.3 overs.

Green finished with figures of 3-14, Rebecca Grundy took 2-3 and Davis bagged 2-12 from her four overs.

Berkshire did enjoy one moment of success when Catherine Guppy had Kathryn Bryce caught behind first balls, but Amy Jones smashed an unbeaten 24 from just 16 deliveries as Birmingham raced to victory in just 3.2 overs.

  •  PETER Henly and Nigel Trumper both struck brilliant centuries as Berkshire Over 50s 2nds demolished Buckinghamshire by 139 runs at Beaconsfield on Thursday.

Opener Henly hammered 14 fours and a six in his 122 from 100 balls, while Trumper’s unbeaten 104 came from 88 balls and included nine boundaries and three maximums as Berkshire ended their 45 overs on an imposing 287-5.

The hosts’ reply never really got going as Jason Carr (2-17 from nine overs) and Upendra Deshpande (2-27) bowled effectively.

Paul Weston made an unbeaten 78, but Buckinghamshire could only reach 148-6.
