BINFIELD CC continue to set the pace at the top of the Chilterns League Division One table after they picked up a 27-run victory at White Waltham.

The visitors made a fine start after winning the toss and choosing to bat, openers Sean Ennis (75) and Chris Morgan (45) sharing an excellent partnership of 130.

However, Binfield wobbled as they then lost three wickets for two runs to slip to 132-3.

Tim Vines (34) and Mickey Reid (37) added 54 for the fourth wicket, and with Alex Jackson hitting 42 later on, the away side were eventually all out for an imposing 271.

Rahul Mohindru was pick of the White Waltham attack with 4-55 from 15 overs, while Chris Ruane took 3-86.

Vines bowled Chris Metherell for two as the hosts’ reply started badly, and with Jackson (2-68) and Jack Collett (2-53) also among the wickets, White Waltham fell to 97-5.

However, a magnificent innings from Ben Scarborough kept their feint hopes alive as they reached 188-6, but skipper Mike Staves (2-53) then made a couple of crucial breakthroughs.

Scarborough continued to motor, however, and only when he was the last man dismissed – for a stunning 99 – by Vines (4-32), could Binfield relax in the knowledge they had bowled out their opponents for 244.

In Division Two, Binfield 2nds eased to an eight-wicket victory at home to Amersham Hill.

Opener Charlie Etheridge (61) batted well for the visitors, but he lacked support as James Wright (3-6) and Matt Nicholls (3-16) combined to dismiss Amersham for 132, and Gupta (52no) completed a fine all-round performance in blasting his side to victory.
