A FINE team performance helped Eversley defeat Windsor by five wickets in Division 2a of the Thames Valley League, writes Richard Ashton.

Stuart Tidbury (3-29), Chris Last (2-30), Andrew Niblett (2-32) and Rezaul Roni (2-37) were all among the wickets as the Boars bowled their opponents out for 209 in 42.5 overs.

Eversley fell to 19-2 and then 53-3, but an excellent 76-run stand between Niblett and Last put them back in the game.

South African Niblett was bowled by Adam Allen-Turner for 46, and when Last was run out for 48, Eversley were 177-5.

However, youngsters Tom Howorth (26no) and Peter Healy (25no) held their nerve to see the Boars home.

Sixth-placed Eversley visit Kew on Saturday (1pm).

In Division 4a, Matt Martin’s sensational 114 provided the catalyst for rock bottom Eversley 2nds (273) to win for the first time this season, with Joe Howorth’s men defeating Teddington Town (246) by 27 runs.

Rob Saunders (3-35), Kevin Manning (3-36) and Sam Glaze (3-53) were the pick of the Boars attack.

Eversley 3rds (110) lost to Fleet 2nds (113-2) by eight wickets in Division 7a, but Eversley 4ths (212-5) downed Yateley 4ths (210-9 declared after 45 overs) by five wickets, Ben Martin’s 124 instrumental in the success.

  • EVERSLEY beat their President’s XI in a thrilling clash at Cross Green on Sunday.

The President’s XI was made up of former Boars players and friends of the club, and they made a fine start as Justin Parvess and Andy Lazenbury put on 80 for the first wicket.

A Jack Sever half century and 35 from Shane Green pushed the President’s to 252, but Jack Ford (35) and Niblett (50) put Eversley on track before guest Dan Marles smashed 101 retired from just 78 balls to put his side on the brink of a victory they secured shortly after his departure.

The lunch interval also featured the official unveiling of the club’s new covers, sponsored by R.Collard.
