The Robins took a first half lead through a sublime Charlie Evanson effort, but the hosts were on top throughout the second period and levelled through Matt Skinner.

It was a committed game between two evenly matched sides and neither manager could complain at taking a point come the final whistle.

The result leaves Keith Pennicott-Bowen’s side ninth in the Hellenic League Premier Division, with seven games remaining.

Bracknell’s pre-match preparations were hampered by the late withdrawal of star striker Shane Cooper-Clark and Taylor Elliot-Money due to unforeseen circumstances.

Evanson was brought in to replace the league’s leading scorer and it took him just 14 minutes to make an impact.

Jordan Rowland’s long ball released Evanson and he remained calm to lob advancing goalkeeper Sam Southerden from an acute angle. It was a fine finish and a fantastic start for Bracknell, who were looking to make it three league wins in a row.

Holyport came back firing and Garry Aulsberry made a fantastic save to deny Jerrell Gumbs’ header from point blank range, before Jean-Pierre Jamil headed just wide.

But Bracknell were creating chances of their own and Evanson was merely inches wide of doubling the Robins’ lead with another lob.

Evanson went close again when he volleyed over before Jake White headed straight at Southerden moments before the break as Bracknell went in at half time one goal to the good.

Pennicott-Bowen would’ve been hoping his side could grab a second goal to give them breathing space in the second half, but they found it tough against a resurgent Holyport.

The hosts made life difficult for Bracknell for the whole second half and they should’ve equalised just three minutes in when Tom Kaill miscontrolled with the goal at his mercy.

Aulsberry then tipped a Gumbs effort round the left-hand post as Holyport continued to press.

The equaliser finally arrived in the 58th minute and Bracknell could have no complaints as it was fully deserved, though they would’ve been disappointed with the way it came about.

A long throw wasn’t dealt with properly and Martin Bradshaw’s poor header clear was lashed home by a grateful Skinner.

Holyport sensed victory and kept attacking as Fred Tripp headed against the post and Adam Paget shot narrowly wide with Aulsberry beaten.

A couple of rare Bracknell attacks saw Evanson shoot high and White head at Southerden but it was Holyport that enjoyed large spells of possession towards the end, and neither side could complain when the referee brought proceedings to a halt.
