The groundstaff at Larges Lane tried their best to make the pitch playable, but ultimately were unable to salvage the game after heavy rain left the surface waterlogged.

The centre circle was particularly badly affected, resembling something of a mud bath when the decision was made to postpone the game at about 11am.

The Robins remain in ninth place in the table, two points behind their scheduled opponents, albeit with two games in hand on the Oxfordshire side.

Keith Pennicott-Bowen’s side travel to Milton United this coming Saturday (3pm), with the two sides sharing the spoils on the opening day of the season back in August.

In an entertaining clash, then manager Ed Carpenter had prolific striker Shane Cooper-Clark to thank for earning his side a point, initially putting the Robins in front before grabbing a 61-st minute equaliser.

The hitman has gone on to enjoy a stunning season, and is currently the top scorer in the league with 25 goals in 22 games, alongside one in the FA Vase against Malmesbury Victoria and a Hellenic Challenge Cup strike against Headington Amateurs.

The Milton clash could see a second debut at Bracknell Town for last season’s player’s player of the year, Liam Alleyne, who re-signed for the club from Ryman League side Met Police last week.

Bracknell Town are next due to play at Larges Lane when they welcome Abingdon United to Larges Lane on Saturday, February 14.
