GOAL ace TJ Bohane says it will be “unbelievable” if Bracknell Town become Hellenic League champions, writes Dave Wright.

The title will be decided on Saturday when both the Robins and Thame United play their final matches.

Bracknell host Highworth and Thame visit bottom-of-the-table Henley.

Last Saturday’s Mark Tallentire’s men won 2-1 at Brimscombe & Thrupp, while Thame lost a two-goal lead and could only draw 2-2 at Lydney, so ending a run of 10 successive league and cup wins.

This left both sides locked together on 81 points, but Bracknell are in pole position on goal difference.

As they are seven goals better off, staying on top looks a formality – but then perhaps not in this case.

Thame boast the league’s leading scorer in Lydon Goss with 47 goals, three more than Bohane and five more than Town’s Adam Cornell.

And they will be facing a Henley side who were hammered 9-0 at Binfield last Saturday.

So United’s chances of swinging the goal difference in their favour is not entirely out of the question.

While Bracknell always look capable of scoring, Highworth boast a dangerous striker themselves in 36-goal Aysa Corrick.

And he will be up against a Robins side missing two key players in centre-back and skipper Carl Davies as well as midfield dynamo Jamie McClurg, who are both suspended.

So it is likely to be a dramatic and nerve-wracking day at Larges Lane and, to add fuel to the occasion, Bohane will also be facing one of his former clubs.

He lives in Swindon, about two miles from the Highworth ground, and remains friends with several of their players.

“I am still in a group chat with some of the lads, so I think there will be a few texts being made this week,” he told the News.

“It is a massive game and it will be unbelievable if we can do it as I’ve never won a league before. In fact, I’ve never won anything before.

“We are also still in three cup competitions, so it could be a fantastic season all round.”

Although Bohane has played in the Southern League, it was at Highworth where he established himself as a prolific scorer.

He bagged 40 or more Hellenic League goals in three seasons between 2010 and 2015.

“I think my best is 47, which is three more than I have got so far this season,” he added.

Having netted one for Royal Wootton Bassett, the goal he netted at Brimscombe was his 43rd in a Bracknell shirt.

“I only just managed to get it over the line,” he admitted.

His winner came in the 71st minute following a right-wing cross from Khalid Senussi.

Senussi had opened the scoring two minutes after half-time, but that was cancelled out by Jack Smith’s lobbed equaliser on 61 minutes.
