BRACKNELL Town manager Mark Tallentire has made it clear that any player who tries to destabilise the team will be in danger of being shown the door, writes Dave Wright.

Tallentire has a squad of nearly 20 players to keep happy as the Robins continue to go from strength to strength in the Uhlsport Hellenic League.

Their 4-1 win over Oxford City Nomads on Saturday saw them remain second in the table, two points behind Thame with a game in hand.

And they secured victory with a team showing four changes from the one that had beaten Binfield 3-2 last week.

“It is not just about 11 blokes. I have got a squad of 18 or19 guys and obviously they all want to play,” said Tallentire.

“We are not going to achieve what we want to here with just 11 players.

“There are going to be little changes to the system, little changes to the starting line-up, and the boys have to buy into that.

“If they don’t, then unfortunately, their Bracknell careers will be short-lived. I won’t have anyone destabilise what we’ve got here.

“It’s taken quite a while to build that up and get it going.

“I understand players’ frustrations, but when players do play I expect them to perform. We have got a squad good enough to do that.”

I understand players’ frustrations, but when they play I expect them to perform Bracknell’s success and their return to the refurbished Larges Lane seems to have caught on with local football fans.

They attracted a gate of 476 for their derby with Binfield, while the official attendance on Saturday was 158, which was more than double their usual crowd.

“That was pleasing to see as the club haven’t a fan base,” commented Tallentire.

“In the past, when the club was in a bit of a mess, but then this guy Kayne (Steinborne-Busse) comes in and makes things happen.

“The whole development is down to his vision if you like. He’s right when he says we didn’t have a fan base, but now it’s time to get one.

“When you get crowds of nearly 500 down here like there was last Tuesday, then you know there is interest in the town and we have plenty of more big games to come.

“Some of the old fans have come back and we will make a whole new face base here.

“It shows we are moving in the right direction and it is all part of our new bit of history.”

Bracknell – who have confirmed their application to move up to Step 4 (Southern League) next season should they get the opportunity – have another home derby this Saturday when Ascot United are the visitors (3pm ko).

Meanwhile, Tallentire made sweeping changes to his team for the Hellenic League Floodlit Cup tie with Hook Norton on Tuesday, but in the end had to rely on his substitutes to secure a 3-1 win in extra time.

With Kensley Maloney’s fine first-half effort being cancelled out by Steve Hawkins, recent signing Gavin Smith came off the bench to restore the lead with TJ Bohane then setting up fellow sub Seb Bowerman to seal a quarter-final date with Brimscombe & Thrupp.

Bracknell’s superior fitness also told with a number of Hook Norton players clearly tiring in the extra 30 minutes.

Town should have sewn up the tie in normal time, but their shooting skills were not at the same level as their approach work.

“Some of our finishing was a bit wayward,” admitted Tallentire.

An exception was Kensley Maloney, who followed up his late winner against Binfield last week, by giving Robins the lead on the hour mark. He had hit the post earlier in the game.

Tallentire will revert to his strongest line-up for the home game with Ascot United, though there is a injury doubt concerning leading scorer Adam Cornell, who limped off during last Saturday’s win over Oxford City Nomads.
