BRACKNELL Town FC are to play most of their pre-season friendlies on artificial grass to prepare for their first-ever season on their new 3G pitch at Larges Lane.

The Robins get their march preparations for the 2016-17 season under way on Saturday, July 9 when they take on Combined Counties League side Camberley Town at Easthampstead Park’s Astro pitch (2.15pm kick-off).

They then visit Southern League Premier Division side Slough at Langley College on Thursday, July 14 (7.30pm) before moving on to grass to play at Wantage, also from the Southern League, the following Saturday (3pm).

It is back to Easthampstead Park for Mark Tallentire’s men when they face Penn & Tylers Green on Tuesday, July 19 (7.15pm) and Badshot Lea the following Saturday (2.15pm).

Windsor, another Combined Counties League outfit, are the visitors to Easthampstead Park on Saturday, July 30 (2.15pm) and Robins complete their pre-season at Holyport on Tuesday, August 2 (7.30pm).

Bracknell hotshot Adam Cornell collected two trophies at the club’s well-attended presentation evening held at the Admiral Cunningham in Priestwood.

The striker, who netted 21 goals in 27 games, won the Roger Edwards Golden Boot in addition to being voted the Players’ Player of the Year.

Manager Mark Tallentire’s player of the season was attacking midfielder Kennie Chamberlain, while teenage defender George Lock was a runaway winner of the supporters’ award, receiving well over half the votes submitted by fans.

For the Development team, James King earned the two main awards, with Ben Poynter earning the golden boot.

Youth section trophies went to Sean Hanley, Taylor Sheeran and top scorer Conner Thorndike.

Liam Day, the Development Team manager, secured Bracknell’s Clubman of the Year trophy.

Wokingham & Emmbrook, relegated from the Hellenic Premier Division, kick off their friendlies with a home game against Division 1 West champions Carterton on Saturday, July 9.

A week later they will be away to Berkshire County, followed by a trip to Mortimer on July 23.

Sumas have also pencilled in a friendly with Brackley Town Saints at Piggott School, Wargrave, on Saturday, July 30 (12pm ko), although Saints have still to confirm this match.
