A FOOTBALL club’s youngsters sprang a surprise by arranging a penalty shootout to raise funds for a new defibrillator.

Unbeknown to club bosses, Bracknell Cavaliers Saints Under 13s got family and friends to sponsor them while they took part in the spot-kick event.

When the sponsorship money had been collected and counted, the U13s team proudly handed over a cheque for £1,000 to help pay for a defibrillator.

The cheque was handed over to Bracknell Cavaliers chairman Barrie Smith by members of the U13s squad during the club’s presentation day recently.

The defibrillator will be located at Easthampstead Park Community School Pavillion where Bracknell Cavaliers hold winter training and play all their home matches on a Saturday.

U13 Saints Mmanager Simon Lovett said: “The team and everyone at Bracknell Cavaliers would like to thank U13 Saints’ family and friends, The Cricketers pub in Warfield for passing collection buckets around their pub and Shred on Site Confidential Shredding directors and staff for donating to our cause.

“We would also like to thank Warfield Glass for being team sponsor and supporting them over the last seven years and hopefully for many more.

“Without their financial backing, wew ould not be able to provide them with essential training kit and equipment.”

TO GO with their new 3G ground, Bracknell Town have introduced a smart-looking new logo.

Robins chairman Kayne Steinborn-Busse said: “We all felt this was a good opportunity to refresh our brand.

“We consulted our fans, showing them a number of different logos before making our decision, but it was important we kept the Robin in it.

“The one we have gone with is modern and clean.”

BRACKNELL Town will be holding The Robins Cup 6-a-side competition at Larges Lane this Sunday, starting at 12pm.

The popular event is scheduled to finish at 6pm.
