BRACKNELL Town manager Mark Tallentire is confident his side is capable of putting another winning run together after seeing them lose 3-0 at Kidlington on Saturday, writes Dave Wright.

It was Robins’ first defeat in 11 games, a sequence that saw them lift themselves well clear of the Hellenic League Premier Division

relegation zone.

The scoreline at Yarnton Road was harsh as Bracknell matched the title favourites in all departments apart from the most important one of all – scoring goals.

“We had five really good chances to score in the first half and didn’t score; they created three in the game and scored all three,” said Tallentire.

“They (Kidlington) probably had that little bit of extra know-how to win tight games like this, and is why are they top of the league.

“But I was proud of our lads as they put a great shift in.

“It was disappointing to concede three goals in the way we did, as they were all down to individual errors, which was frustrating.”

Tallentire added: “We haven’t tasted defeat for a while and it was a little bit of a pill to swallow because we played ever so well.

“I thought we showed that we have something about us but we need to convert our possession into goals.

“To be fair, we have been doing that in the last four or five weeks.

“This is the first time I can actually say we were not quite at the races in front of goal.

“But we have been on a fantastic run and we have got to put this game behind us and go again.

“I am now looking for a reaction and I am sure we will get back to winning ways. We still have plenty to play for this season.”

Robins, who were scheduled to visit Highworth in the league last night (Tuesday), are in the midst of another busy week, as tomorrow they meet Wokingham & Emmbrook at Larges Lane for the second Thursday in succession.

Last week Bracknell won 2-1 in the league and now clash again in the quarter-finals of the Bluefin Sports Supplementary Cup.

Robins played the whole of the second half with 10 men after skipper Carl Davies was shown a red card just before half-time for bringing down Sumas striker Luke Scope as he raced towards the area.

Commenting on the incident, Tallentire, right, said: “I thought there was enough cover on and I think Damien (Smith) would probably have cut their man off, but as soon as you make a challenge like that, you are asking a question from the ref, so really we have no arguments with the decision.

“I commend my team for how they played with 10 men. We practice that a lot in training, so the lads are used to playing odds against evens.

“Even with 10 men I always thought we looked quite comfortable and was pleased to get the get the three points.

“Apart from one opportunity I can’t remember them (Wokingham) creating any real dangerous moments until Jordan Rowland smashed in a fantastic free-kick at the very end of the game.

“We could easily have had more goals ourselves. Declan Kirby missed an absolute sitter and could easily have had a hat-trick.”
