BRACKNELL Town had lost 3-0 at home to Wokingham & Emmbrook early in the season, but a repeat never looked likely when the two locals rivals met again last Thursday after the Sumas had conceded ground advantage, writes Dave Wright.

The Robins won 2-1 and that was despite playing the whole of the second half with 10 men.

Skipper Carl Davies was shown a red card just before half time for bringing down Luke Scope as he raced towards the penalty area.

Two other Robins defenders were moving across but at the time of the incident centre-back Davies was the last man and so had to go. ?

From the free-kick 20 yards out Sam Whiting fired just wide.

?Town were a goal to the good, with Seb Bowerman having fired them ahead after 26 minutes.

Declan Kirby had a golden opportunity to double the lead, but blazed the ball high over an open goal, while the same player was denied by a fine save from keeper Sean Woodward.

Sumas, however, also had their moments at the other end with Scope shooting wide and then forcing keeper Garry Aulsberry into making an excellent save.

Jake Wheeler was also thwarted by a last-ditch tackle from Davies.

In the second half, Aulsberry had to deal with another effort from Scope, while, at the other end, Ben Broadhurst cleared the ball off the Sumas line following a Jamie McClurg corner.

But when Broadhurst slipped as he looked to stop another Bracknell attack, Bowerman took advantage by crossing for Adam Cornell to make it 2-0 after 78 minutes.

Wokingham never looked capable of taking advantage of their extra man in the second half, but they kept plugging away and were finally rewarded in the sixth minute of stoppage time when former Town player Jordan Rowland blasted home a?n unstoppable free-kick into the top corner from 25 yards.

Wokingham were due to visit Kidlington in a top-versus-bottom clash last night, before returning to Larges Lane for their Bluefin Sports Supplementary Challenge Cup quarter final tomorrow (7.45pm).

They then visit Highmoor Ibis in the league on Saturday (3pm), before hosting Ardley United on Tuesday (7.45pm).
