BRACKNELL Town manager Mark Tallentire was full of praise for Adam Cornell after seeing him score four goals in the vital 6-1 win at Tuffley Rovers on Saturday, writes Dave Wright.

“I am really pleased for him, as it hasn’t quite been going for him,” he said. “He has been chipping away and getting into the right areas.

“He did manage to get two against Lydney a few weeks back, but in other games either his efforts have been saved by the keeper or gone just wide, so the corner turned for him on Saturday.

“Hopefully, this will now give a nice shot to his confidence and he will go on to score a few more for us.”

Tallentire is also hoping that the victory against another side fighting to avoid relegation from the Hellenic League’s Premier Division will also boost the Robins’ hopes of climbing the table.

“It was a great win,” he said.

“There was a lot riding on this game, but we showed a lot of character and applied ourselves well. It was a fine all-round performance.”

Tallentire was forced to make several changes from the side that had beaten North Leigh United 2-1 in the Bluefin Sports Cup last Tuesday with Carl Davies, Jamie McClurg, Dan Money and Damien Smith among those not available.

“I was slightly concerned before the game as we had those players missing, but that said I still had confidence in the team I put out to face Tuffley,” said the Bracknell manager.

Among those brought into the starting line-up was James Suarez, who has been sidelined with a punctured lung and broken rib.

Tallentire commented: “He has been struggling to get over it and I would have preferred to ease him in a little easier, but our hand was forced a little bit to get him back involved on Saturday.”

Although lacking match sharpness, midfielder Suarez responded well with a goal, while Declan Kirby also joined Cornell on the scoresheet.

Bracknell visit Highmoor Ibis on Saturday (3pm). Next Tuesday they entertain Woodley United (7.45pm)in the Bluefin Sports Supplementary Cup.
