THE hotly-anticipated local derby between Bracknell Town and Wokingham & Emmbrook was called off on Saturday due to an unplayable pitch.

The surface at Henley Town FC where Wokingham groundshare was waterlogged, forcing the Hellenic League Premier Division clash to be postponed.

The match has now been rearranged for Thursday, March 31 (7.45pm ko).

It was the second Bracknell Town game in a week to fall foul of the weather as Robins also saw their home clash against title-chasing Thatcham Town postponed last Tuesday night due to a waterlogged pitch at Larges Lane.

Bracknell were due to host North Leigh United in the second round of the Bluefin Sports Supplementary Challenge Cup at Larges Lane last night (Tuesday).

The winners of the tie will host Woodley United in the next round.

Robins return to league action this Saturday with a relegation battle at fellow strugglers Tuffley Rovers (3pm ko). Bracknell also travel to Thame United next Tuesday night (7.45pm ko).

Wokingham’s next fixture is this Saturday when they travel to Moreton Rangers in the second round of the Bluefin Sports Supplementary Challenge Cup (3pm). The winners will be at home to Stokenchurch in the next round.

Sumas also host Highmoor Ibis in the league next Tuesday night (7.45pm ko).

Meanwhile, Eversley & California made it four league wins in a row with a 2-0 victory at Chobham in Combined Counties League Division One on Saturday.

Goals in each half from Brad Smith and Matt Griffiths secured the win for the Boars.

The victory continued Eversley’s fine league form following earlier wins against South Park Reserves (6-0), Sheerwater (6-0) and Staines Lammas (3-1).

They will be searching for a fifth straight league win this Saturday when they host Ash United (3pm).

However, Boars were knocked out of the Aldershot Senior Cup last Tuesday night after a 4-3 loss at Alresford Town.

Sandhurst Town drew 2-2 at Staines Lammas on Saturday in Combined Counties League Division One clash.

The Fizzers were due to host Bedfont & Feltham at Bottom Meadow last night (Tuesday) and then travel to Dorking this Saturday (3pm ko).

LONG-serving Bracknell Town FC groundsman, Ray Coxhead, has died.

Ray, pictured above, was groundsman at Larges Lane from the 1970s until the early 2000s.

He was a familiar face around the club and was highly respected by managers, coaches, players and supporters.
