STAR striker Shane Cooper-Clark is staying with Bracknell Town FC, writes Dave Wright.

The Robins revealed they had received several approaches for their hot-shot on the day he bagged a hat-trick in the 3-3 draw at Milton on Tuesday, which earned them their first Hellenic League point of the season.

But the player told the club “I don't want to leave.”

Club secretary Darrell Freeland revealed that Marlow, Highmoor Ibis, Thatcham and Hartley Wintney had also expressed an interest in signing Cooper-Clark last season.

Southern League side Marlow have showed further interest this term, along with Wokingham & Emmbrook, Binfield and Thame.

Last season Cooper-Clark bagged 36 goals and he has carried on scoring regularly this campaign. He netted once in Bracknell's 4-3 FA Cup defeat at Shortwood on Saturday, followed by his three at Milton, taking his tally to 12 in 11 matches.

“I now have 77 goals for Bracknell and want to get to 100,” said Cooper-Clark. “I love it at Larges Lane and don’t want to leave.”

Freeland added: “We are delighted than Shane is to stay with us. The fans love him and rejecting the moves will make them love him even more.”

Robins were 2-0 down before Cooper-Clark opened his account at Milton. They then went 3-1 behind and only a penalty save by keeper Garry Aulsberry for the second match running denied the home side increasing their lead.

But then super Shane got to work, scoring in the 74th and 78th minutes to earn Robins a draw.

He was left hobbling after a challenge, but hopes to play against Brackley Saints at Larges Lane this Saturday (ko 3pm).

Bracknell have been drawn at home to Highmoor Ibis in the second round of the Hellenic Floodlit Cup.

In the same competition, Ascot United will be away to Division 1 East strugglers Reading Town.

Ascot moved up to second place in the Premier Division following their 3-1 win at Ardley on Tuesday.

Daryl McLean fired them ahead after 39 minutes, but soon afterwards the home side equalised from the penalty spot.

Debutant Gurkan Gokmin restored Ascot's lead in the 58th minute with Matt Jones getting the third on 70 minutes.

United were without striker David Pitt, who broke his hand and wrist during last Saturday's 2-1 win over Lydney.

The Yellamen meet Wokingham & Emmbrook in the Bluefin Sports Cup at The Racecourse ground this Saturday.

Binfield are home to Brimscombe & Thrupp in the league and will be looking to return to winning form following a 0-0 home draw with Milton last Saturday and a 2-0 defeat by Highmoor Ibis in the Floodlight Cup on Monday.
