A SHANE Cooper-Clark brace saw Bracknell Town progress against fellow Hellenic Premier Division side Royal Wootton Bassett Town in the Emirates FA Cup Extra Preliminary round.

A goal in either half from the Robins' talisman was enough to give the Robins a 2-0 victory and a place in the next round of the draw.

It was an even start to proceedings with the majority of play taking place in the middle of the pitch, and the first chance brought about the first goal in the 23rd minute.

Sean Hanley fed Ebenzer Opoku-Ware and his weaving run took him past two opposition defenders before he squared it to Cooper-Clark, who found the far corner of the net.

It was a scuffed effort from the Robins striker but it was enough to beat the keeper and give Bracknell the lead.

Cooper-Clark should've had his second in as many minutes moments later but he fired wide having been forced into rushing the shot from 12 yards out.

The hosts tried to take advantage of the let off and went close towards the end of the first half through Dan Comer, Sam Packer and Harvey Scholes but they all failed to seriously test Gary Aulsberry in the Bracknell goal.

The home side needed a good start to the second period but it was Bracknell who struck first as Cooper-Clark got his second goal in the 48th minute.

A routine shot from the edge of the box looked no trouble at all but the keeper spilled the ball and could only watch as it rolled over the line.

It could've been three just moments later but Curtis Meare in the home goal made amends with a fine save to deny Sean Hanley heading home a third goal.

Cooper-Clark missed his chance for a hat-trick in the 79th minute when he volleyed over after a superb cross by Opuku-Ware but it was plain sailing for Bracknell on a comfortable day at the office.

The hosts did occasionally threaten but Aulsberry was rarely troubled in the visitors goal, and frustration got the better of the hosts when they were reduced to 10 men in added time.

George Drewitt saw red for a second yellow card and Bracknell played out the final few seconds with ease.

The Robins were due to travel to Thatcham Town on Tuesday before a home clash with Ardley United on Saturday (3pm).
