Keith Pennicott-Bowen’s side remain winless in 2015, but the manager felt his side deserved more.

He said: “It’s frustrating. It’s two weeks running we’ve had two great first-half performances and we just need that little bit of luck in front of goal. At the moment it feels like there’s a forcefield around the goal.

“There’s nothing wrong, if we were bottom of the league looking up at everyone I’d be worried. The league table never lies and we’ve been rock solid between eighth and 11th for most of the season.” He added: “I’d be worried if we weren’t creating chances, but we’re creating a good six or seven chances a half. It’s not as if we’re just creating one in the whole game and then sitting back and defending.

“I’ve got massive belief in the boys in the dressing room that when we get one, we’ll go on.” Bracknell were under pressure early on in Saturday’s game, with Michael Watson clearing an Anaclet Odhiamob effort off the line.

But the Robins improved and Sam Whiting went close before Martin Bradshaw had an effort stopped on the line.

Khalid Senussi then had an effort tipped round the post but Abingdon took the lead five minutes before the break when Jamie Mundy’s long-range effort deflected off Jake White and into the net.

Shane Cooper-Clark missed a glorious chance early in the second half, heading across goal from three yards out, while Whiting should have done better when one-on-one with the goalkeeper.

Abingdon sealed the game in the 80th minute when White slipped and Sam Collier took advantage to fire home.

Bracknell visit Binfield this Saturday (3pm), and Pennicott-Bowen is expecting a tough test.

He admitted: “The challenge is there, because Roger’s got a great team with some fantastic players. It will be a tough challenge for us and if we get anything from the game then that’s a bonus, but we’ll be going there looking to win.”
