The new Robins gaffer was appointed first-team manager in May after joint-bosses Steve Nebbett and Danny Oliphant stepped down.

Despite leading Bracknell Reserves last season, Carpenter cast an eye over the first-team at several Hellenic Premier games and is confident he knows what pieces of the jigsaw are currently missing.

And the Robins boss was happy to discuss the type of player he believes will be needed to push Bracknell Town to the next level.

Speaking to the News, he said: “The main thing is to continue the good work of Steve Nebbett and Danny Oliphant, but I also want to put my own stamp on the team.

“I wouldn’t pinpoint a specific position, but I think defensively we can improve.

“We also need one or two in midfield who enjoy a strong battle and getting stuck in.

“When we play football it is fine, but you need to adapt your style and make sure you don’t get bullied in other games.

“It is okay playing the football through the early months of the season when the pitches are fine.

“However, it becomes a lot harder in the winter months when the weather is bad so we need people who can dig in.” It is understood talks have already taken place with the majority of the squad and several new players have been contacted about the possibility of them switching to Larges Lane next season.

But Carpenter remains tight-lipped over which targets he has in mind.

“I’ve had a chat with about 90% of the squad from last season and they are happy to register with us again on July 3 and have verbally agreed to do so,” he explained.

“But things can change quickly in football and a lot of players will be keeping their options open .

“I’m not naïve enough to think they’ll all definitely be here, so we’ll have to see.

“I’ve been speaking to a few different players but I don’t think it’s fair to other clubs to mention names when nothing has been sorted.”
