BRACKNELL Hockey Club Ladies 1sts produced a clinical performance to beat Trysports Premier Division leaders South Bucks 2-0 at Birch Hill.

Despite being without injured captain Kelly Hancock and three other unavailable players, it was Bracknell who put early pressure on the visitors.

Their hard work soon paid off when Katie Bailey struck from a short corner to put Bracknell ahead.

Bailey was also instrumental in the second goal as her superb cross was turned in by Caroline Apsey to make it 2-0 at half time. Goalkeeper Lyndall Halkyard continued to keep South Bucks at bay but it was an excellent team effort that saw Bracknell through to victory.

Dash Heaver was awarded girl of the game for her solid work in defence.

Bracknell 2nds remain third in Trysports Division Three following their goalless draw with Wallingford 3rds.

There was one point separating the two teams going into the match so it was always going to be a tight affair.

Despite several attempts on goal, the Bracknell forwards of Steph Newton, Maria Russo and Rachel Whittle were unable to put the ball in the back of the net.

After the break Bracknell came back stronger and Jo Stringer was instrumental in several of the attacks.

Along with Georgia Acton, voted girl of the game, Bev Randall and Becca Yeomans kept Wallingford at bay.

Bracknell Men’s 1sts suffered a disappointing 3-0 loss at home to Sonning 1sts.

However, the 2nds recorded back-to-back wins with a 1-0 victory at Sonning 2nds.

There was also a 3-1 win for the 3rds against Sonning 5ths.
