Determined Bracknell Ladies share derby spoils

BRACKNELL Ladies came from behind three times to draw 3-3 with Reading Ladies 2s.

Reading drew first blood but Bracknell were soon level when a well worked turnover ball resulted in a through ball from Yellie Powley to forward Kelly Hancock, who coolly slotted passed the keeper.

After the interval, Reading wasted no time in putting the pressure back on and won a penalty flick, which they converted to make it 1-1.

Bracknell then moved into the lead for the first time thanks to a diving sweep shot from Becky Coveney.

Bracknell went on to absorb huge pressure from a well drilled Reading team who scored once more in open play, but failed to net off several short corners.

Reading struck again to take a narrow lead, but with just a few minutes remaining, Sam Hall struck Bracknell's third equaliser into the bottom corner to round off a closely-fought contest.

Emma Reed scored the only goal of the game for Bracknell ladies 3s shortly before half time to see off Oxford 1-0.

Bracknell Mens 2s recorded their first win in MBBO Division Four against a depleted Henley 3s team.

Bracknell dominated Henley, who had to play with nine men for most of the game, to win 5-0 thanks to goals from Chris Keeley, Tom Scott, a brace from Oli Greatbatch and an own goal.

Duncan Wiggett blew Phoenix and Ranelagh apart with a devastating 10-minute spell that saw him score a hat-trick for Bracknell Terriers.

The first-half treble from Wiggett was added to by Steve Williams in the second period. There were notable performances by Zak Brayshaw, Dan White, Rhys Copland and Tom Cuniffe.

Wokingham Hockey Club

WOKINGHAM Ladies 2s got a second win under their belt with a comprehensive 7-1 win over Miltonton Keynes 3s.

Alison Longfield scored the first of her three goals midway through the first half before Beccy Slater converted two short corners on the left post to make it 3-0.

Hayley Buckland got goal number four just before half time and Wokingham added another two from Longfield and Eve Kelly.

As the game neared the end Milton Keynes managed a late consolation.

WOKINGHAM men's 2s got back to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over Oxford 5s.

Wokingham took the lead against the run of play thanks to Will Simpson's bobbling effort but were pegged back by Oxford in the second half.

But the home team took control and struck a second after a well worked long corner was deflected in by Matt Taylor.

Ryan Pogrebnyak's reverse stick strike settled the encounter.

Next up for the 2's are high flying Wallingford at fortress Cantley.

Wokingham Men's 3s were edged out 3-2 by Milton Keynes Samurai in a top of the table clash on Saturday.

Wokingham were 3-0 down at half-time but the rejuvenated side saw two goals scored by Chris Richman within a minute of each other.

However, as hard as they tried Wokingham could not find the elusive equaliser and the game finished 3-2.

Wokingham Vets picked up their first league win of the season in a closely fought 3-2 victory over Oxted Village.

Captain Alan Baines opened the scoring and then scored a last minute winner after Wokingham were pegged back to 2-2. Graham Lee was also on the scoresheet with a well-taken reverse stick shot.
