Lukas Smital’s men fell to a 5-1 loss at Basingstoke Bison on Saturday before being beaten 4-1 at home to Telford Tigers on Sunday.

The results leave them 14 points adrift at the bottom of the table, with a defeat to Milton Keynes Lightning this weekend almost certain to consign them to bottom place at the end of the season.

Things got off to a terrible start against table-topping Telford as the visitors took the lead with their first shot of the game.

Martin Ondrej found a way past Alex Mettam in the Bees net from distance and the hosts were instantly up against it.

But Bracknell continued to fight and they went close through Radek Hubacek, Sam Waller and Matt Towalski as they looked to shoot straight back.

A couple of powerplays passed without incident and it remained 1-0 at the end of the first stanza in a tight encounter.

The Bees were indebted to Mettam at the start of the second period as he made four successive saves to keep the Tigers at bay as they laid a mini-siege to the Bees net.

But Smital’s side survived and eased their way into the period, with Hubacek and Danny Ingoldsby going close to levelling before Towalski made the most of a four-on-four situation to equalise.

His initial effort was saved but he picked up his own rebound to fire home and make it 1-1 at the end of the second period.

Despite their best efforts in keeping it tight until the last stanza, three early goals in seven minutes from a rampant Tigers all but ended Bees’ hopes of picking up a shock result.

The hosts started the period a man short after Vanya Antonov was called for tripping and it took 84 seconds for the visitors to pounce as Jason Silverthorn finished past Mettam.

The Bees keeper then twice had to save from Joe Miller shortly before he was beaten when Rupert Quintey buried a rebound into the back of the net.

And the game was over just two minutes later as Max Birbraer scored a superb coast-to-coast goal to wrap up the points for Telford.

It was a spirited fight from Bracknell but they ultimately finished empty-handed, which was a similar story to their 5-1 defeat at Basingstoke Bison on Saturday night.

It was again just a single period that the Bees were heavily beaten in as they held their own in the other two sessions.

Smital’s side were just 1-0 down to a Joe Rand strike at the end of the first period but disaster struck in the second stanza as Bisons stuck four past the Bees.

Two goals in two minutes from Joe Green settled the hosts down and they started to exert their authority with a 3-0 lead.

Basingstoke were dominating and Miroslav Vantroba netted twice late in the period to make it 5-0 at the end of the second period.

But Bees dug in to avoid humilation and scored the only goal of the last period through Antonov to ensure the game ended 5-1.

Smital’s side will look to end their dismal run when they host Milton Keynes Lightning on Saturday (6pm) and Telford Tigers on Sunday (6pm).
