The club released a statement earlier today saying 'a contract was offered for the coming season but the two parties could not reach agreement on terms'.
However, Thompson, who was named the club's Forward of the Year at last Friday's awards ceremony, insists that was not his understanding of the situation.
"Bracknell is a club I hold close to my heart and yes there was an offer on the table but it was never rejected and neither did I know it was final and non negotiable," he wrote on Facebook.
"The offer was revoked and the message i put up yesterday was 100% true. I hate doing things like this but i don't want to see the team I love hurt by this as I have not walked away.
