The Under-18s side dropped just one point on their way to winning the title, a year after finishing a disappointing third.

They will now face Northern League champions Nottingham this weekend bidding to be crowned national champions.

Team manager Linda Barker said it is a fantastic achievement for the Drones to reach the final, especially considering the adversity they have faced this season.

“We lost a couple of players along the way to other clubs while some also gave up the sport, leaving only five senior players for the remainder of the season,” she said.

“Game clashes and injuries meant some of the U18s were drafted into both Bracknell senior teams (Hornets and Bees) but thankfully we were able to call up players from the U16 Bracknell Stingers who more than filled those gaps and it was great development for all involved.

“The Drones are hoping that they can give a good account of themselves in Coventry and make BIHC club and our supporters proud.” With only six senior players from last season’s U18s side registered, the Drones have had a young squad for their 2013/14 campaign.

However, under coach Mitch Stead and assistant Andy Downs they soon realised their potential, opening their league campaign on a winning note and never looking back.

They won 15 of their 16 league matches to finish seven points clear at the top of the table.
