The result moves eighth-placed Bees two points ahead of Peterborough Phantoms, who have played a game less but come to The Hive on the final day of the English Premier Ice Hockey League season on March 23.

Bees will take plenty of encouragement from their display against Telford into their final three matches, even though they just missed out on taking maximum points.

Ollie Bronnimann gave Bees the lead with a powerplay goal in the first period before Tigers levelled through Timo Kuuluvainen.

Scott McKenzie finished on a four-on-three powerplay in the middle stanza to put the visitors ahead, only for Bees to reply with two quickfire goals from Bronnimann and Lukas Smital.

Unfortunately for the hosts they could not hold on to their advantage until the buzzer as Adam Walker broke away for a shorthanded equaliser.

Neither side could find a winner in the final period or in overtime, with both Alex Mettam and Tom Murdy pulling off some excellent stops to keep it at 3-3.

And it was Tigers who snatched the extra point when they won 2-1 in the shootout.

Bees have one game again next weekend as they entertain Swindon Wildcats at The Hive on Sunday (6pm f/o).
